Jacob's POV

I hadn't expected that all. I don't know what I or my twin possibly could have done to have gotten such a reaction. I just hope she was okay. She looked rather upset.

In the haste of her movements to escape she had dropped her notebook. My brother hadn't noticed as I picked it up and tucked it under my arm.

I couldn't focus on much else for the rest of the day. My mind was just repeating the two times we had met, over and over like a broken record. She didn't come in for the rest of the week, which had me worried. I didn't even know her name.

But I'm sure my brother does.

" I'm leaving now" my brother interrupted my thoughts, "visiting times over soon."

"I'll be out soon."

He stood up and picked up his jacket. As he was about to leave I asked him " What do you know about her?"

He turned to look at me a confused expression on his face.

" The girl from earlier today, the one who was supposed to show you around."

" Oh her" a look of realisation dawned upon his face as he rolled out his R, " well wouldn't you like to know more about that pretty face."

" No, you can't." I could see from the look in his eyes he was going to do what typical Alex does.

"You can't Alex, we're supposed to keep a low profile that's the whole reason we're here" I could hear my voice raising " that's the whole reason mom is here and not at Dr Sand's clinic where she should be!"

I slammed my fist into the cabinet against the wall. The bruising on my knuckles arose and disappeared even faster.

Alex stood up and strode over to me, "Hey, hey she's going to be fine. It'll just take a little longer okay. Mom will make it."

I stared him out, waiting.

"I won't do anything with the girl, okay?" I nodded in response.

"Okay, good. I'll see you later man."

"What's her name?" Thats one thing I deserved to know.

Alex stopped opening the door and without turning around replied, " Allison. Allison Ross."

He left.

I finally had a name, a name to connect to the book.

Looked like I wasn't going to be seeing Alex later after all, I had some research to do.

I turned towards mom. Her lifeless body lay there with tubes invading every vein available. She looked pale if that was even possible. But h
er face looked so peaceful, as if she were just sleeping.

If only she were.

I bent down and kissed her forehead.

"I love you mom." I whispered to no-one.

I hate leaving her but I had some business to attend to.
