Chrene's P.O.V.
"I'm so excited!" I bounced up and down on the passenger seat.
"It's just a festival." Ivan rolled his eyes.
"It's not just any!"I argued.
"Whatever." He muttered under his breath, followed by a scoff.
We soon arrive out of the familiar farm house. About ten cars were here and many older people socializing. Kids about five, six and seven were running around, playing tag or some sort of game. I stuffed my hands into the pink sweater I was wearing. Today was a bit cold, but just perfect to go outside and do some activities.
We both greeted the adults and went inside to have a snack. Just a bit into the festival, many people were here. The land was filled with all people of all ages. It was kind of overwhelming. The festival was a celebration for Ivan's grandparents 5th year of owning the farm. They sold fruits and meat to many stores all around the world.
"Alright everyone!" Grampa spoke into the microphone. Everyone scurried to stand in front of the sixty year old man.
"We're gonna start off with the apple picking then continue with the other games and lastly we'll have the dance competitions."
The group drove us to buckets of water and apples floating on top.
"Wait...I thought we were doing the apple picking first?" I asked Ivan.
"This is the apple picking." He smirked. I looked at him confused then he explained further saying that you can't use your hands but have to pick them with your teeth.
Well this should be exciting...

I have completed all the games but failed to succeed or win first place. But it was fun, over all.
"Now time for the dancing." Grampa says through the microphone and as soon as he says that, everyone grabbed a partner and started to dance as the music came on. They were only country songs but they had a nice beat going. I grabbed Ivan's arm and started to look around to see what other people were doing. They were doing some country dance but I couldn't keep up with the steps.
"Let me help you." Ivan whispered in my ear, sending shivers down my spine. As his feet moved, I followed them and soon enough I caught up with the dancing but then a different song came on and all the moves changed. I got irritated so I stomped away and sat on a chair, looking at the crowd. Ivan walked towards me.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"I hate this!" I pouted.
He laughed then says, "I told you we shouldn't have came to this festival."
"It's not that...I just can't keep up with the dance moves so I'm mad at myself." I answered, a bit embarrassed.
"C'mon, let's go." He waved a hand and started to walk towards the woods.
"Where are we going?" I ran up to him and walked side by side with him.
"Let's go see the sun set, my darling." He says in a posh accent. My mood then went from upset to happy like a child. I couldn't stop smiling the whole time we walked to somewhere that I didn't even know.
"We're here." He says and I looked ahead of us. There was a lake. The water shimmered and reflected the sun. It was a peachy color. Almost the color orange but with a dash of red.
The sun was setting and it was marvelous.
"Woah." I gaped at it. It took away every second of oxygen I had. It's just....I've never seen a sun set before and it's better than what people say it looks like.
"I know right. I use to come here all the time...ever since my grandparents moved I discovered it." He smiles and it doesn't touches his eyes. His eyes showed sorrow, like somehow he was sad.
Somehow it kind of looked like...loneliness. I gave him a reassuring smile in return and his smile grew wider. His green eyes were hypnotizing. They had an effect on me. They were just...gorgeous. I was about to say something when a feminine voice beat me to the punch.
"Ivan!" She screamed. Ivan and I looked behind our back and a girl about our age came running towards him. Both of their arms opened. He engulfed her in a hug, his face snuggling into the crook of her neck. I felt something inside of me drop.
She was beautiful. I was far from that. She had tanned olive skin, brown hair with a few red streaks that fell a bit past her elbows. I didn't get a glimpse of her eyes but from afar I think it looked brown. I stood beside their embrace awkwardly.
Who was this girl?
They pulled away but Ivan's left arm stayed hooked around her waist. They both smiled at me happily. This time when Ivan smiled it looked real. Like he was really happy.
"Oh um this is Chrene, Chrene this is Vanessa." He gestured between us.
"Hi." I plastered a fake smile but I'm sure both of them knew that I was faking it anyways.
"Hey." She smiled, her bright white teeth showing. Oh gosh, even her teeth were nice. She was a slender girl a bit shorter than I was.
"I guess, I should...umm, I'll see you tomorrow Ives." I scratched the back of my head and walked back to the farm house.
He didn't even follow me. He didn't even tell me who she was, besides her name. He let her come between our friendship time. I'm his best friend! Or at least I think I am...
Honestly, I don't even know why I'm feeling this way.
Matter of fact, I don't even know how I feel!
When I arrived back at the site, people were just leaving and I should too. I called a cab -- A cab, yes, a cab would pick me up, even in this country side-- ten minutes a yellow cab arrived. Man, the cab was fast. They probably have a taxi place somewhere close here. During those ten minutes I never saw Ivan and that girl-- I mean Vanessa come back. I said my goodbyes to Ivan's grandparents and left.
I ran straight to my bedroom, got changed and went straight to sleep. My parents weren't home. No one was with me...like always.
I only had one thought in mind........
I was suppose to be that girl.
