The Ruby Eyes of Affection

"What do you mean you screwed up?! What did you do, Rob?!" Tails exclaimed worriedly as his stern eyes pierced right into Rob's fearful soul.

"I helped him... I gave him Shadow's blueprints... He said he would create another lifeform to protect Shadow from harm... I never could've imagined all this happening, i swear." He admitted shamefully as he placed his hands over his eyes, rubbing them rapidly to keep them from tearing up.

"Why in the world would you do something so horrible?! You know Dr. Eggman has been after the destruction of Sonic for years, right?" Tails replied furiously as he marched over to the brunet hedgehog and readied his hand for the slapping of a lifetime.

He was blocked by Rouge who grabbed his arm before he could strike as Rob cowered in fear, shielding himself with his hands.

"Honestly, I had no idea who Sonic even was at the time!" He shouted in complete dread before taking a stern step forward in an attempt to show assertiveness.

"Rob!? Is everything okay? You sound upset. What's wrong?!!!" Shadow belted from inside the guest bedroom as Rob could hear the sound of a certain cobalt hedgehog shushing him sweetly.

"Yes yes!!! Everything is fine!" He replied back as he put his finger up to his lips emphasizing that everyone needed to pipe down.

"Well look at what you've done... Now the entire world is doomed and that thing does not look like it's going to give Sonic a fair fight." Knuckles whispered intensely as he put his fists up in slight anger.

Tails still had rage burning in his eyes as Rouge attempted to hold him back.

"Well, what do you have to say for yourself? You sorry excuse for a play bunny." The kitsune insulted softly but forcefully, right at Rob's face before following it with a growl.

"Tails... Please, your attitude is not making this easier..." Rouge complained as she gently rubbed the foxes back in hope it would help him relax a little.

"I'm so... very sorry... Honestly. I..." Rob confessed frightfully as his face became especially emotional before looking down at the elegant wood floor in regret.

"I don't deserve to be Miran's guardian. Voziti should've just ended my life and gotten someone better..." He continued as he held his head in complete and utter shame.

"Well, there's no time for you to feel sorry for yourself. We have to come up with a plan to protect Sonic! Follow me to my lab... Unless you want me to blast you with one of my many weapons." Tails murmured unsympathetically as he walked past Rouge and grabbed Rob's arm before giving it a hard tug.

"No no no. That won't be necessary but shouldn't we tell the love birds first?" He asked in a slightly dejected tone before glancing at the guest bedroom door.

"Let them enjoy a few days together... Alone. They are eternal lovers after all. We don't want to mess with destiny, now do we Mr. Guardian?" Tails responded as he glared at both Knuckles and Rouge, implying that they should probably get going as well.

Suddenly, the rustling of sheets could be heard in the bedroom. The brunet hedgehog sighed in frustration as he assumed they were already at it. It was completely natural for the prince and the princess to get a tad close, as it were. But it was still mildly irritating. He quickly put his ear against the door to confirm his suspicions.

"Sonic... No... Not now. Your friends are out there. They will hear us..." Shadow uttered in a slightly embarrassed and weak tone.
