Before we get to the lesson lets look at new words!

Now lets get started(▭-▭)✧

When you talk about wanting an object you use the word hoshi(欲しい)。

Here are the forms of 欲しい.

Dont want-
Didn't want-

Lets use this in sentences!

I want a cookie
(I) dont want banana
-(she) doesn't want coffee

Using が in the Negative sentence like above↑ changes the meaning slightly. It gives sense that you do not want something but want somthing else.

Another word that is used when you want something is iru(いる). It is commonly used and is used in questions.

これいる?-(do you) want this
-dont want

いる literaly means to need and is used for stating you need somthing but can also be used to ask if you want somthing. In english you would use differnt words but in japanese you use the same word.

For example:

(I) need glasses
(I) dont need [polite]

いかが
This is used only in polite situations.
It is used to ask if someone would lile something for how they feel about somthing.

みずはいかがですか?-would you like water?
お茶がいかがですか?-would you like tea?

Good job! This lesson was not very hard I hope. Next we will talk about what you like then we will see if you understand!
