In this lesson we will learn a use with the particle に.
But first lets go over some kanji.

私-I/me *by now you should know how to say I/me*

東京 -tokyou

傘-umbrella (how to say umbrela is in the color lesson)*the easy way to remember this kanji is to see that it looks ,in a way, like a umbrella. Although it does not mean umbrella we are using it in this lesson*

雪 -yuki *we will be using this for a name in this lesson*

家-house *the pronounciation for this is in the very first lesson*

I put the new ones first to introduce you to new kanji. There is other kanji that will be in this lesson but they will be explained in the lesson. And I know the last two are not kanji but the words will be used as well in this lesson.

に is a particle with several different uses in japanese but in this lesson we will go over only one of it's main uses. That is to tell where something or someone is located.

スミスさんは東京います。
-smith is in tokyou

Proposions such as in, on, or under used in japanese.


naka
Naka(中) means inside or middle.

nakaNaka(中) means inside or middle

いぬははこの中に いる
-the dog is in the box

の中 means somthings inside.
So any other preposion infront of の
Means somethings_________。

Ue
The word ue(上) litiraly means up but when used as a preposion it means top or above.

-the keys are on top of the table.

Shita
Shita(下) means down but as a preposion it means somthing is below or under somthing.

ねこは傘のにいる。
-the cat is under the umbrela

Mae
Mae(前) means before. It shows that somthing is before or in front of something.

雪さんはドアのにいます。
-yuki is before(or in front of) the door.

soto
Soto(外) is used for the preposion outside.

家の
-outside the house

私はにいる
-I am outside

私は家のにいます。
-I am outside the house
