"Wh-what?"
"Roman? Did you think I wouldn't find out?"
"There is nothing to find out," I say, hoping it sounds like the truth, which it is.
"Were you were just going to slip away?"
"It's not like that."
"Then how is it?"
"Roman is going to step in for the rest of the band. Greg is the only one who can make it."
"And it's nothing more?"
Laurel's words come back to me 'what would he think if he read your texts?' I have an internal battle because no one should be reading my texts but me, but manage to say, "He might think it's something more."
"And you?"
"Nope!"
