A couple minutes later 2 cars pulled up, Cadel, Evan, Zeke, and Cas got out. Cas ran over to me and gave me a hug.
"I'm so sorry" she said.
"It's ok, we'll find her... Hey where's Austin and Maia?" I asked confused.
"Austin took Maia home" replied Cadel.
I shrugged and turned towards the forest. I took a step and felt an unseen hand on my shoulder. It was Ant's, but Ant wasn't here. It was her spirit. It was a beautiful ghost that soon flew into the forest.
My guide I thought. She'll lead me to Ant.
I ran after it with Cadel and the others follow. We ran through a path with broken trees and broken dreams. We ran until we came up to a note, it was small and fragile. Like Ant.
I looked at it and it read.
Dear Ryan
I love you
I'm sorry I could never tell you in person
-Ant

I crumpled the note up and shoved it in my pocket. I continued to run as tears streamed down my face. I looked to see the others follow. I looked up to see the sun setting.
"We need to make camp" I said.
I looked at the trees and I took Ant's knife out of my pocket. I used it to cut holes in the hollow trees for shelter and to cut sticks for a fire.
We sat around the fire and talked. I sat there leaning agianst Cas crying. Evan gave me a dirty look. What is his problem I thought. We all talked about school and our summer plans. They all seemed as if they were spending every day with each other. And I don't know why but I just blurted out.
"Why you guys have fun, I spend every day trying to keep Ant from death."
Everyone stared at me. I broke down crying mumbling "I failed you Ant."
I went to my tree and cried. I didn't care. I just cried as tiny rivers formed in my eyes. I felt a hand on my shoulders. It was Cas. She whispered in my ear, "we'll find her. I promise." And she placed a soft kiss on my cheek. "Now get some sleep."
And I falled asleep.
