Ellie had left awhile ago, leaving Jack with his friend.
The Captain held the pocket watch in his hand, thumb continuously tracing over the Gallifrayian engravings. He smiled softly, sadly even. His friend would soon return to him.
The regeneration of the Time Lord had left the doctors curious and scared at the same time. It took hours for Jack to explain as much as he could. He planned on retcon-ing them before he left.
It had been several days that the alien had been under. Jack spent every second of it by his side. He continued to wish and hope that soon he would open his eyes, but sadly, he always remained silent.
Ellie had come to check on 'Alec' every so often, but also Jack as well. She had rested his case, but was still getting nowhere with the death of Daniel Latimer.
She had come to Jack often for advice. The Captain always told her the same thing. "I'll know him when I see him." He muttered.
"Then come with me and find him." Ellie sighed, irritated.
Jack shook his head. "I'm not leaving him."
"He's in a coma, Jack. He won't wake up okay? He nearly killed himself! I'm host too, but that doesn't mean I can stop working."
Jack stood up and walked over to Ellie. He looked down at her and rested his hands on her shoulders. "It doesn't mean you can't either." He muttered and sighed heavily before returning to his seat.
The doctors had said that Alec was in a coma, but Jack wouldn't believe it, although the days did keep dragging on, causing Jack to doubt himself.
He bit his nail as he lost himself in his thoughts. 'What if he's actually human? Was he ever my Doctor to begin with?' He shoved the thought away. 'Did something happen during the regeneration? He didn't change, but that doesn't mean he's not healed, right?' He sighed heavily and rested his head in his hands.
Jack had to leave. He couldn't stand it anymore. He ran a hand through his greasy hair, obviously needing a shower. He left the hospital and parked at the Inn. He pushed open the door and saw Ianto talking to Becca Fisher. He shrugged as Ianto looked back at him.
The Captain headed up the stairs. He took the keys out of his pocket, thankful that Ianto had given him the extra set earlier.
No one was in the room. For starters, Ianto was obviously downstairs, and Owen had been covering for Alec down at the station. He was actually filling in more for Ellie, but it was a work in progress.
Jack jumped in the shower. He quickly cleaned himself before pulling on a clean pair of trousers Ianto had brought. He smiled softly at the thought of the shy, calm tea boy.
As Jack stepped out of the bathroom he stopped. He stared at Ianto who sat on the bed. Ianto stared back, his eyes trailing to the bare chest of his leader.
Jack smirked and rolled his eyes playfully. "Hey Yan." He whispered, as if a loud noise would break the moment. He walked over and sat beside his teammate.
"Hey." Ianto replied, "has he woken up yet?" He asked softly.
Jack shook his head, feeling his emotions return. He sighed heavily, hiding them for now. "No... He hasn't. He muttered as he crossed his legs on the bed. "I'm not sure when he will." He mumbled, looking at the ground to distract himself.
Ianto sighed. He stood up, "Owen says the case is going well."
Jack shrugged. "Good for him." He muttered softly. 'I wish mine was.' He thought sadly.
Ianto sighed once more. "Listen, Jack. It is him."
Jack looked up and raised an eyebrow, any trace of emotion vanished fro his cloudy eyes. "What?"
"The Doctor."
"What about him?" The Captain asked.
"It's him. Alec is him."
Jack smiled softly. "Thanks Ianto, I know your just trying to cheer me up, but I really don't know if that will work."
Ianto smiled sadly and sat next to Jack once more. "It's true."
Jack shrugged. "And maybe it is. But why would he need to be human? Was there something so horrid that he had to change?" He muttered. 'And why into such a depressed man?'
Ianto looked away and shrugged. "I'm as clueless as you Jack."
"You have no idea." Jack muttered.
"For we know, he could just be sleeping." Ianto smiled softly.
Jack smiled sadly and looked up. "Yeah... He's just sleeping." He muttered.
(I am so sorry for the long wait! Life just kinda came around... Actually my mom came around. Her anger towards me and everything kinda brought me down, BUT I AM BACK ONCE MORE!)
