Chapter Three:

Tessa's POV:

"He literally asked me two questions and was like 'okay you got the job'." I said babbling on. Vic and I were at a local bar eating beer nuts and drinking Heineken's while avoiding the watchful gazes of lustful men.

"I told you, Tyler said he was really laid back and he pays well especially for the plain people." She teased.

"Yea what's the deal with that? He asked me if I knew this thing called 'Legacy'?" I asked raising an eyebrow and she shrugged.

"Last I heard it was some rock band, you know I don't listen to that stuff." She said taking a swig of her beer.

"Yea it was really weird. I don't listen to that type of music either so I don't really know how that had to play into it." I said.

"So what are you wearing on your first day tomorrow?" She asked.

"I have a white tank top blouse and a light pink pencil skirt." I said. The white tank top wasn't thin strapped it went from my neck to the beginning of my shoulders.

"Oh I know that outfit. It's cute." She commented.

"Yea, I gotta admit he is not bad looking." I said honestly and she chuckled.

"Are you kidding? His blue eyes are like the clearest ocean ever. He is gorgeous and I'm not one for lanky guys." She said.

"Yea but he is really tall. The man towers over me." I smiled and she grinned.

"Sounds like someone is crushing on their boss."

-------

I did my hair up into a neat bun with just a few strands of hair peeking out. I slid on a pair of white heels and grabbed my bag while walking out the door. As I walked down the street an unknown caller called my phone.

"Tessa." I stated.

"Tessa, it's Jaxon- can you grab me a black coffee?" He asked.

"Of course sir, any place in particular?"

"Whatever is on the way is fine. Thank you Tessa." He said.

"No problem." I said hanging up. I made my way into a Starbucks ordering a black coffee for Jaxon and a camomile tea for myself.

I made my way back to Jaxon Steele Inc.'s office. I rode in the elevator with other workers in the building and went to the top floor. I made my way to his office slightly knocking on the door. Tyler opened it and I smiled stepping in.

"Good morning." I said softly. Tyler smiled warmly and Jaxon looked up and smiled.

"Good morning, Tessa. Thank you." He said as I handed him his coffee.

"Cara?" Jaxon called on the intercom.

"Yes Mr. Steele?" The woman responded.

"Can you show Ms. Van Ryck where she will be working. I have to make an important call and I will see to her after." He said.

"Of course Mr. Steele." Minutes later a red head appeared in the door with her hair in a low pony tail. She gestured for me to follow and I did. She brought me to a large desk with a fancy computer, note pads, pens and different schedule books along with a dry erase calendar on the wall.

"This will be your desk. Mr. Steele ordered a name bar for you this morning so it should be here in about a day or two. After Mr. Steele is done with his call he will come here and give you a copy of his schedule. He is a very unorganized person so you will organize his events in a planner and on your calendar and then report back to him with further information. We break for lunch at one." She said.

"Thank you Cara." I smiled.

"No problem, and welcome." She said softly. She walked away swiftly and I opened a drawer placing my bag inside. I laid my phone next to me and started up my computer. Someone already set up an account for me and a bunch of utilities such as Microsoft word and excel were already on the computer.

I grabbed one of the planners and placed the other one in the drawers. I grabbed numerous coloured pens and dry erase markers awaiting for Jaxon's schedule.

I sipped my warm tea and scribbled in a date on the calendar.

"April twenty-seventh...hopefully dad returns home." I whispered. I did miss my father as anyone would. My mother left him due to the military life and I haven't spoken to her since. Last I heard she married some guy from her work and had a baby.

She began a new life without me...

"Tessa?" Someone asked quietly. I looked up into the piercing blue eyes of Jaxon and I smiled.

"Oh sorry, Sir." I apologized standing up.

"Relax you don't have to stand every time you see me." He chuckled. I looked closely noticing a small silver fleck on his nose and just outside his lip. I drew my attention away and forced a smile back on my face.

"My apologies." I said sitting back down. He handed me numerous papers with his meetings and assignments written with dates.

"I'll have this done soon." I assured. He nodded swiftly and walked away as I began working.
