Ever since Evie was a little girl, there always seemed to be something wrong with her, every time she talked, she had to be extremely happy about something. Her mom loved to see her smile, so since Evie loved the ducks, her mom would take her to see them almost everyday just to see her smile and hear her squeaking laugh; As all mothers love to hear. She would only talk when she was near the ducks. Seeing her laugh, run, clap and feed the ducks, was all her mom really loved in life. Nothing made either of them happy. When Evie turned 3, the ducks were taken away, after that, she never talked again.
Almost 10 years later...
For Evie's birthday, her mom wanted to do something special for her, Evie was turning thirteen soon, so her mom wanted to do something special for both her and Evie. She wanted to get the ducks back in town. Before she could make any sort of discussion with the mayor, her job as a mom came first. Evie's dad had died just after the ducks were taken away. Anyways, Evie's mom drove to pick Evie up from school. She pulled up to the curb where she would always pick Evie up, Evie was already waiting there for her. She was dressed in only black/gray plaid and just black, she had one earbud in her right ear as her backpack drooped off of her right shoulder.
She hopped into the front seat next to her mom, "Hey Evie, how was school today?" Evie's reply was simply a shrug as she continued resting her head on the window while staring straightforward. Evie's mother could hear the classical music laying through her earbuds slightly. She stared at Evie, took a deep sigh, and then began to drive Evie back home.
