Chapter 6: It's all for not

Evie was lying unconscious on the cement, her head had hit the ground, she was bleeding out of the back left portion of her head. It showed absolutely no signs of even slowing down the rushing red liquid.

Her mom ran her to the hospital as the ducks remained in a cage that sat in the middle of the living room. After a few weeks passed, Evie regained consciousness, though she ha cf to stay in the hospital, she couldn't breathe right, she could barely stay awake for long periods of time. Everyday her mom would come in just to sit by her. I haven't even heard her giggle... Her mom would repeat, wishing she had gotten help for her...

She sat next to Evie hour after hour waiting until she would wake up, listening to every breath Evie would take, monitoring to make sure she didn't stop breathing. Every time her chest lifted in even the slightest motion, there would be a slight moment of relief that would pour and spread throughout her mom.

After days have passed of her remaining still, her mom heard a horrific and Erie noise. I
