I threw open my closet, hoping that I would find at least one cute thing to wear. But what should I wear? Where were we going? Oh why! Why me? Breathe, breathe Ace, breathe. AAH! Breathing sucks! Guys have it so easy. They don’t have such a wide variety of clothes to wear! Ugh! My life sucks.

I wound up showering and putting on my makeup before going back to looking for something to wear. When I did open my closet back up, I basically emptied it onto my floor. I couldn’t find one thing to wear, and I didn’t have a close enough girl friend to whine to, and I only had ten minutes until Caleb would be here. Screw my life.

After wasting five minutes of my time banging my head on my wall, I settled on a pair of navy shorts that complimented my tan skin, and a purple razor back flowy top and my Black Canvas Women's Gabriel Lacktman Spiral Classic toms. Overall, I’d say I looked pretty good. I left my hair down, but put a hair bow on my wrist in case I needed it.

The doorbell rang, and I yelled from my room that I got it. I ran down the stairs and hugged Mimi goodbye, telling her that I had my phone, the new iPhone that Mimi got me, and she could text me if she needed me. When I opened the door, there was Caleb, leaning against the column, very sexy like.

“Hey,” I said while mentally slapping myself. Hey, why did I just say that like that, ugh! Why am I so awkward around guys?

“Ready for the night of your life,” Caleb grabbed my hand and walked me to his Audi R8 V12 TDI, a hot smoking red car.

“You seem so sure of yourself,” I teased, while ogling his car. It was gorgeous. I may be a bit girly, but I like my cars.

“That’s because I am,” Caleb got in the front seat and started the car.

“So, where are we going?” I asked. I still didn’t know.

“It’s a surprise,” Caleb drove out of the driveway, and down the street.

“Seriously?” I questioned. I really wanted to know where we were going.

“I can’t tell you. It would ruin the surprise,” Caleb whined.

After driving for a good ten minutes, we arrived at a park.

“You’re taking me to the park?” I questioned.

“Yes, and no. I’m taking you to a special place near the park that you can’t get to by car,” Caleb told me. He grabbed my hand again and led me through the park and around the back of the park for a bit until we came to this amazing lake. It was probably the cleanest lake I’d ever seen. It was a gorgeous deep blue. We were situated on a cliff that overlooked the lake. There was pretty green grass and wild flowers of every color everywhere.

“It’s beautiful,” I commented, looking out over the sparkling water with awe. The sun was starting to set, sending bursts of pink and orange through the baby blue sky and tingeing the scattered, puffy clouds.

“My mum first showed me this place when I was little, after that I was hooked. Whenever I ran away for any length of time, they knew that I’d be here. Couldn’t keep me away,” he chortled softly. I turned my back to the brightly glowing sun to face Caleb once more, noting the sparkle present in his green eyes and the way they seemed to glow. The smile on his face brought one to my own lips and warmed my heart. Suddenly as we looked at each other, all the nerves seemed to disappear. It was just us.

Pulling my gaze from his, I noticed that he was now sitting upon a blue checked picnic blanket on the clearing of short green grass, completely surrounded by wildflowers on which an open wicker basket lay.

“Come here,” he murmured whilst patting the empty spot to his right, breaking the silence in the gentlest of ways.

Smiling, I complied and placed myself down by his side close enough to see the flecks of color in his green eyes but far enough away that we didn’t touch.

“Are you hungry?” Not giving me time to reply, he started unpacking food from the basket laying them out before us in a tummy rumble inflicting spread.

“Did you do all this?” I asked tearing my gaze from the huge variety on the rug. There was everything, both hot and cold foods that looked like a lot of work had gone into preparing.

He merely nodded and dropped his eyes to the floor, a small blush coloring his defined cheekbones. Completely awed by his actions, I didn’t think about what I done next as I leant forward and kissed the blush very gently. “Thank you,” I whispered, too choked up to speak any louder. No one had ever done anything even close to this for me before.

“You’re welcome. Now we better eat before all my hard work goes to waste,” he joked to lighten the serious mood that has lapsed around us. Grinning, I picked up the first bit of food I saw and wasted no time in eating it.

Full and fit to burst, we lay side by side on the checked blanket with my head on his chest; star gazing as I listened to the steady beat of his heart. Everything else had been packed away and the sun had gone down a while ago. I had thought the lake was beautiful before, but it was nothing compared to the moonlit scene in front of us.

The crescent moon gleamed bright against the twilit starry sky; lighting up everything around is in a soft blue tinged hue.

Tilting my head up slightly, I watched Caleb from beneath my lashes observing the clean line of his jaw and the peaceful aura that surrounded him. His piercing green eyes reflected the sky, twinkling as bright as the stars that he looked upon and his usually tanned skin looked pale and almost glowing in the light of the moon.

“Ace, did you see that?” His arm not around me stretched up and pointed towards the sky and his voice filled with enthusiasm and content.

I focused my gaze in the direction he pointed but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. “See what?” I asked, facing him once more.

Those unusual, beautiful eyes that seemed to bright in the half light locked with mine. “The shooting star.”

“No I missed it. Did you make a wish?”

“It already came true,” he whispered gently before bringing his head up to my face kissing my forehead sweetly. When he lay back down, I snuggled closer into his side unable to wipe the smile that tilted the sides of my lips off and his arm tightened around my waist as we fell into a peaceful silence.
