Will we ever make contact with 'aliens'?
Why is it so difficult to find them?
There must be something that prevented our attempt to find extraterrestrial life in the universe.

Monday has come. It's time to work. I need to get prepared and submit my annual report to the HQ.
7.00 AM
Well... I think that i'll be late for today.
"Shit, it's already 7 o'clock! Better hurry."
I quickly clean myself and wear my outfit. Because I'm in rush, I forgot to eat my breakfast. I quickly got into my car and drive.
It took approximately 1 hour to get to the HQ by a car from my home. I parked my car and run into my office.
"Hey there! You seems to be in hurry," Said my co-worker, Jake.
"Yeah, I need to submit my report to him right away," I replied.
"Okay Silberman, just make sure you don't fall into anything," He replied.
"Yeah! Sure! Thanks!" I replied.
I walked to my boss' office and greet him right away. As usual, his office was filled with pictures and articles about extraterrestrial life and other fictional things.
"Good morning, sir," I greeted him with my usual face.
"Hey Silberman, how ya doin'?" He replied cheerfully.
"I'm here to submit my annual report to you, Sir," I replied while putting my report to his desk.
*Sigh* "Okay then, I'll read that later," He replied.
"Thank you, sir. Have a nice day," I quickly replied.
"Don't be so formal to me, okay? Just relax. I'm not your god or anything, right?"
"Y-yeah. Okay... Bye!" I smiled at him.
I got out from his office and get back to my desk.
I've worked for 10 years and still there is no evidence of extraterrestrial life out there. Why? Am I missing something here? I need to change my strategy to find them.
"Still won't give up?" asked Jake.
"No, I won't. I need to find them." I replied seriously to him.
"But why? So far we've got no evidence that suggest aliens exist." he asked again.
"The universe is vast. Don't you think that there is a possibility of the existence of other lifeforms? Countless planets, stars and galaxies exist in our universe, and you still think that aliens are a fictional thing?" I answered seriously.
"Well, I just... skeptical about it. Maybe they're exist, but there is a possibility that their world is too far away from us. Because radio waves get weaker as they're getting far away, maybe the aliens will never receive our transmissions." he said.
I think he is right. Just take a look of the distance from our world to the nearest stars, Proxima Centauri. The distance from earth to that star is about 4.2 light years. It will took a long time for our transmissions to get there. Will the transmissions still can be distinguished from the background radiations by the aliens? Will they get the message? These thoughts are so frustrating to me.
"I think you're right, but we have no other choice. This is the only way to know if there is extraterrestrial life in the universe." I replied.
"As you wish, brother." He continued his work.
Several hours have passed. I've calculated that the probability of extraterrestrial life in Milky Way Galaxy is about 1%. But still, 1% to more than one hundred millions planet are still a large number. Will we find them? When?
Suddenly a loud voice was calling my name.
"Dr. Silberman! Dr. Silberman!"
"What? Who's calling me?" I quickly turned around to my back.
"Dr. Silberman! You're here!" He stopped shouting my name.
"Yeah, it's me. How can I help you?" I asked him.
"Please let me introduce myself. My name is Dr. Tom Hanks. I am an astrophysics and I need you to come with me right now." He said with his struggling breath.
"What? Is it important?" I asked him again.
"It is very important. Shall we go now?"
"Have you tell my boss about this? I cannot leave this building without permissions."
"I've arranged that. Now let's go." He said as he dragged me out from the HQ and into his car.
Who is he? How did he know my name? Where is he taking me?
"So.. Who are you, again?" I started a conversation.
"My name is Dr. Tom Hanks. I am an astrophysics and I worked for SETI, just like you."
"Well, I've never seen you before." I awkwardly answered.
"Yes, indeed. I worked at a different office." He smiled and start driving.
"So what is it?" I asked him.
"What?" He got confused.
"What's your reason to bring me with you?"
"Me and my crew just detected an unknown gravitational anomaly at White Sands this morning."
"Gravitational anomaly? What causes it?" I started to interrogate him.
"We don't know. I've checked all the instruments and there was no faulty hardware or a glitch."
"Also, there have been reported that an unknown structure suddenly appeared in the middle of the sands." He answered nervously.
"Did you say a structure?" I said that with a surprised feeling. A structure that suddenly appeared out of nowhere? That's impossible! But I think he just said a gravitational anomaly occurred this morning at White Sands. What could it be? I need to see that structure immediately.
"Yes, a structure. But we haven't receive any official reports from White Sands. That's why we're going to take a look to the structure." He said it with excitement.
It will take about 3 hours driving to White Sands. This will be a long journey with uncertainty. What is it? Where did it come from? Why at White Sands?
I've wondered....
