Chapter [12]

Noah's point of view[:

Aparently my parents had found out I skipped school on Thursday, so after a long droning day of School, instead of telling my school and getting me detention, I had to go to my grandmother's as a punishment.

Mental groan.

My grandmother, was a weirdo, my grandpa left her because of it, and she wasn't even phased. She'd either happy or angry. The only time I actually saw her sad, and that was really sad, was when her friend died.

She was a pretty cranky old hag last time I was here, but that was a few years ago.

I wondered how much she'd changed, probably not much. She's old, what could've happened.

My mom wasn't letting me drive, so when she pulled up to my grandmother's old trailer. I was begging.

"Please mom!! I don't want to!" She shot me a glare. "And I don't want my son to be a delinquet. Maybe your father's mother will smack some sense into you." I huffed.I never told her that I skipped with Lisey, or Lisey would for sure get in deep trouble.

"I can still go to the party this Saturday, right?" She growled. "Who are you going with?"

I gulped. Hana? And get quiestioned like I'm a criminal. Or... Lisey? And get off scott free.

"Lise."

My mom smiled "I like that girl, she's sweet. Is it like a date?" I smirked and nodded without thinking. A date with Lisey?

Not a bad idea.

But if Lisey said no...

I gulped and quickly shook my head even though everything so far had been a lie. I didn't want the idea that me and Lisey were getting together any time soon in her head. My mom chuckled. "Well, we'll find out if you should go after I pick you up in an hour."

I sighed dramatically and slid out of my seat. My feet smacking loudly against the pavement. I looked up to the doorway and saw her.

My grandmother.

And... my heart broke.

The poor old lady was skinny, too skinny to be healthy. Her eyes had dark circles around them, and she had those tubes in her nose, connected to a tank she was pulling around. Her hair was thin and grey. And she had the same electric blue eyes as me.  She was hunched over a cane and you just wanted to run up and hug her.

I smiled faintly.

"Hi Grandma."

My grandma stared at my confused... and then turned to my mom. "Hello Miranda."

My mom smiled at her and skipped over to give her a hug, "So where's my little Noah?" my Grandma asked.

I smiled. She actually mentioned my existence.

I waved at her. She gave me another confused look, "Well, who are you?"

My heart dropped, really?

My mom chuckled, "Grandma. This is Noah."

My Grandma's eyes went wide in shock. "Well. I guess you kids really do change in ten years."

Yeah. No shit I groaned, frustrated. But then felt guilty for being angry at this weak old woman, as if my feelings would physically hurt her.

We sat there in a slight awkward silence for a few moments until my mother cut through it with a horrible, "Well, I'll see you two later! Bye!"

She gave us both a hug and pranced out the door.
