I burst into the cafeteria weighed down with bags, my cheeks reddened from the late december air. I looked down passed my jacket to where I could see the skirt of the silver-white dress that I was wearing for the performance. There was also going to be a debate today,so I had brought my old-fashioned tan dress. I had also brought some normal clothes. I was almost to my advisory room when my mom came out of nowhere. Avigayil, you don't have time.Hand me your bags and go." She said. I handed her the bags and ran for it. when I got to advisory, I took my coat off and stuffed it into one of the bags, revealing my white lace over-shirt. I don't need to talk about advisory, nothing happens there .

I took my place in the gym, kabalat shabbanukah was about to begin. The sixth grade leaders began the fun. We sang song after song after song, until finally, Rabbi Bellas stepped up to the podium. " Since it is kabalat shabbanukah, we are going to sing a very special chanukah song. Avigayil, please come up." I rose from my seat gracefully, and took the steps up to the front of the gym where the microphone was like I was walking the red carpet. I reached the microphone, opened my mouth wide just as the music came on, and sang my song; Light A Candle

My mouth closed as the music faded. I looked out on the audience, they were clapping and cheering for me, me! I could see tears in my hebrew teachers eyes. Even the boys who used to tease me cheered.
