"Hey Riley, we're home," I heard my godmother say. Ten minutes before they arrived, I was able to calm myself down and look presentable.

"So where is Dylan and Lindsay?" My mom asked. I winced when she mentioned their names, but I knew I should just tell her the truth.

"They...they are on their way back to Colorado..." I said. I felt the tears begin to come to my eyes, and my family got silent.

"Why did they leave?" My father asked confused.

"He...she...they..." I was having trouble even explaining what happened.

"It's okay Riley, you don't have to tell us," Carter said while coming over to me and giving me a big hug.

"Thanks Squirt, but I know I need to explain to you guys...So basically yesterday, Lindsay was throwing up in the restroom, and Dylan and I found out that she was pregnant with who we all thought was her boyfriend, Aidan's baby. So Dylan made an appointment with a doctor, so we brought her today, and Dr. Edwards did a few tests, and it was confirmed that she was pregnant..." I was saying, with my voice shaking at the end.

"Well...why did they leave?" My godfather said.

"Well, it wasn't her boyfriends baby, and she was actually four months pregnant, but wasn't experiencing any symptoms..."

"Well who's is it?" My mother asked nervously.

"It's...its Dylan's," I said completely breaking down into tears. My father was about to say something, but decided to come and hug me instead, and was followed by the rest of my family.

*one week later*
It's been so boring here on New York. I've gotten constant phone calls and emails from Dylan and Lindsay, but I've ignored all of them, which kills me. I know that I may be overreacting a bit, but I've been lied to for about four months now by my boyfriend and best friend. I just don't know what to do. Just then I hear my phone buzz.

"Merry Christmas shortcake. Please call or text me, and I really need to explain to you." -Dylan

Is it Christmas? I look over to the clock, and I read 6am, December 25. Hmm, any minute Carter is going to-

"ITS CHRISTMAS!!!" I hear as Carter bursts through my room. I set down my phone right before Carter leaps onto me.

"Merry Christmas Squirt."

We then go out into the living room and open presents with the whole family. My parents and godparents got new cameras, Carter got more video games for his xbox, and I got a lot of clothes and a new phone. I cracked my iPhone 5s, so my parents decided to buy me the rose gold 6s edition. Then, while we were cleaning up all of the wrapping paper, I saw a small wrapped box underneath the tree. I bent down to look at it, and it said,

"To:Shortcake From:Dylan"

He must've slipped it under the tree while he was still here. I opened it, and it was a white gold heart pendant that said,

"I'll always be here to save you."

I quickly put it in my pocket and continued to clean up.

"Ugh, I feel so jet lagged." I said as my parents and I stepped off the plane. New Year's Eve was pretty normal, and we were able to see the ball drop from my godparents apartment which was pretty cool.

"BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!!!" Fuck it's Monday, and I have to go to school. I get up, and get ready, and I hear my phone buzz.

"I'll be at yours in 5 minutes." -Dylan

Well fuck...this is gonna be weird, but I'm not about to walk in the snow. After about five minutes, I see Dylan pull up in his Lamborghini. I go outside, and hop in the car.

"I've missed you..." Dylan said trying to start a conversation, which I completely ignored.

"Look shortcake, I've told you a million times how sorry I am that things turned out like this, but in my defense, we technically weren't even friends let alone dating when this whole thing happened..." Dylan said a bit annoyed. He was partially right, but he still lied to me.

"You lied to me for four months," I said looking out the window. We were still about five minutes away from our school.

"I know, and I'm sorry that you found out that way, but that's when I was a completely different person, before I fell in love with you..." I saw a tear stream down his cheek. I could tell how much he was hurting, but I still felt a bit hurt. We eventually arrived to school, and right when I walked in, I felt stares on Dylan and I, and heard whispering, but we just ignored them and walked to our first period since we arrived to school late.

"Lindsay is such a slut."

"I heard that it's Dylan's."

"She thought it was Aidan's."

"I heard Riley broke things off with Dylan."

I couldn't handle all of the whispering whenever I entered a room.

"Look if you have something to say, how about you say it to my fucking face!" I said, and  the whole class went silent.

"Maybe we wouldn't be saying things if your best friend wasn't such a whore..." Phoebe said.

"You're one to talk, Dylan and Michael even told me how you're a walking STD." That one made me feel good, and Phoebe finally shut her mouth.

Ugh the school day is finally over. Dylan brought me home, and decided to come inside. I don't even know what we are anymore. We sat on the couch and it was silent.

"You know I love you short-" Dylan was saying until I interrupted him.

"I can't do this anymore..." I felt my eyes begin to tear up.

"What?" He said confused.

"I think we need to take a break for a while..." By this time, tears were streaming down my face.

"I...I don't know why you're saying this, but I know you're lying."

"I'm not Dylan, I just don't think I'm ready to be in a relationship right now...I need to learn how to love myself, before I can love someone else..."

After I said those words, Dylan stood up, and stormed out of my house. It felt like my whole world broke into tiny pieces, and one piece was missing that I couldn't fix.
