I pressed the tweet button and sent out my tweet to my 657.5K fans. Almost instantaneously the little blue light showed up underneath my mentions. Ignoring it I looked up to see if the boys had finished their tweets. They were still typing away at their phones. They like to interact with their fans a lot and I sometimes get jealous of them because they don’t have people telling them exactly what they have to do all the time. I really want to interact with my fans more but between the sheer numbers, my overall lack of time, and the fact that management will yell at me if I say too much on my twitter it's really hard.

I decided to look at some of the replies that I had gotten. Skimming through I saw that most of them were people freaking out because a) I had called them cuties, which I hadn’t done in a while. b) I had used a hash tag that I had made up c) the hash tag also included cuties d) I was going to do a show in Boston e) I was in a band(a lot of people don't know that) f) I had tweeted and g) my personal favorite, I was alive. There were countless other reasons too… some of them extremely strange.

When I got tired of skimming I did what I love doing the most…the  way I choose who I'm going to reply to/ follow. I closed my eyes and I scrolled then stopped. I then chose my favorite tweet from the ones that were shown on the screen making sure that it didn’t have a little number next to it. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people send me the same tweet over and over again with different numbers at the end. If you're going to spam me at least be a little creative ya know?

I choose a tweet from “Vermont Slow Kid @SlowKidGracie” it read “@dylanobrien ur an amazing drummer dyl! I cant wait ta get to see u in concert! u called us cuties <3 its been a while! love the # btw <333” It wasn’t much different from all the other tweets I was getting, but there was just something about it that made it different.

After I read the tweet I looked at her picture. It was a picture of me drumming, in fact it was my favorite picture of myself drumming. She had even gone through the trouble to fix the red eye.

Then out of curiosity I scrolled through her tweets. She had sent me a few other tweets but each one was different, I liked that. I scrolled back up to the top and clicked on the follow button. I smiled to myself knowing that I had just made someone all the way across the country extremely happy.

It didn’t take long before a blue light appeared under the tab that read “me”. I clicked on it knowing it would be a DM from the girl I had just followed. I opened my DMs and read what she had written.

“Thank u so much fr following me Dyl! u have no idea how happy u just made me! This has been the best day ever!!-”

“-First I find out that my fave band is playing a show near me and then u follow me!”

I grin to myself, I love my fans so much, especially the really authentic ones. Especially this one there’s just something about her that’s different, I just cant put my finger on it. I decided to reply to her. I know that management specifically told me I wasn’t allowed to reply, but what they don’t know wont hurt 'em right?

I type in the reply the box “You're welcome, I really like your picture. Its my favorite one of myself drumming!” and press send. I really hope she doesn’t rat me out. I really don’t feel like getting yelled at for this.

It doesn’t take long for her to type back. “OMG! Its my fave one too!”

I then decide I should probably ask her not to post a picture of what I’m DMing her that way I wont get in as much trouble...the last thing I want is a mob of angry fans.

She DMs back saying she promises that she wont.

I don’t want the conversation to end for some reason so I send her another message, “You’re the first real Slow Kids fan I know of from Vermont”

“Yah not many people know about you guys up here, I know of a few other fans, but they are all my friends and they deff rnt as big of fans as I am.” She replies, then quickly adds, “I cant believe Im actually going to get to c u in concert, u have no idea how long Ive been waiting for this. I really hope I get to meet u”

I grin at the idea of getting to meet her. The more I think about it the more I want it to happen. But I don’t want to get her hopes up if I cant find a way. So I just reply “You never know what will happen.”

I suddenly realize that I’m the only one still on their phone now because the boys are gathered behind me reading the conversation over my shoulder. I look back down at my phone and I hear a chant of “Dylan’s got a girlfriend! Dylan’s got a girlfriend “ start up in my ear. I reached back and hit Ben who was the closest to me.

Then I went back to my twitter and told @SlowKidGracie that I had to go practice for the concert. I then logged off and turned around ready to deal with my band mates.

I hoped you guys liked this chapter it was really fun to write! Let me know what you think!  A special thanks to my amazing editor who made this actually readable! <33
