I can see it all from here; everything at once and yet nothing at all.
I feel the sand shift beneath my feet, grains of broken shorelines scattered in the deepest parts of the earth. And for a moment, I forget.
I forget the way she used to smile. I forget the way her eyes reminded me of the sea. I forget the way she left this world, her skin broken by careless words and thoughtless souls.
I remember, though, that our love was deeper than this. It was a mystery, a drive stating mystery. As I leap into the dark of the cavern, I feel the adrenaline the way I did when we first kissed.
I wish I could go back. But I can't. So, instead, I dive forward. Into the black, black sea.
