The light of the sun shined on me and I gracefully woke up. Ok, so I can be a morning person when no school will follow my waking. I slowly got up out of my bed and walked down to the kitchen to get something to eat. I don't know if you've noticed by now, but I kinda don't have parents. They died in a car accident a long time ago, so the government had been paying my expenses. But, because of this, I have become quite a good cook. Soon the smell of Bacon and eggs filed my small house and I enjoyed myself to a good meal. I checked my phone, only to see 0 notifications. Oh well.
Three days since the incident have passed now. I haven't gotten one text from my friends and I haven't once left the house. So far, I've mostly spent my three days writing or drawing, but today would be different. "I'm going to go outside and do something fun!" I yelled as I punched the air. A big smile appeared on my face as I left my house and walked down town.
The town was alive as people walked around. Many small shops and cafés decorated the sidewalks and vinatge buildings were behind those. I always loved this small town. It had a nice attitude and always smelled nice. I walked around for awhile, tried on clothes, stopped at a café until I finally grew tired. "Wow, what a great day!" I said to myself as I started to head home, "Ma'am, would you like to have a reading? Its completely free." I turned to the side to see a small, elderly woman in front of a small house. I smiled wide, "Sure!"
She welcomed me into the house and inside was a ton of fortuny stuff. In the middle of the room was a table with two chairs, a glass orb, cards, and many other things. She smiled and beckoned me to sit, so I did. "Would you like a tarot card reading or a future reading?" The future reading sounded cool, "Future reading please!" I smiled as she set the glass orb in the middle of the table. She began to stare intently at the orb before pursing her lips, "A man will come to your house- tonight- at exactly midnight." I looked at her confused, a man?
I thanked her and left. On the way home I started to think, 'a man? I wonder who?' Than I laughed, 'Sakura, when have you ever believed in fortune tellings? Its probably just made up!' I chuckled on the way home, 'yeah right, like someone Is going to be going at my house at midnight.'
But yet, her I was, hours later, sitting on my small dining table, staring out the window watching the time. "One more minute...." I began to count down in my head. 60......55.... I stared intently looking for any signs of life....45.....30.....25....10....5...my eyes widened.....3.....2...1.... I braced myself....0.... I paused, excepting something to happen. After a few seconds I got up, opened my door and peered outside. Nothing. I closed the door and scratched my head, "Guess I was right after all..."
I shrugged and headed up to my bedroom to write. After about 30 minutes I heard something clang from downstairs. My eyed widened, 'What was that?' I slowly crept downstairs where it was pitch black. I paused to listen.
Clank
There it was again. There was something in my house. I slowly moved my hand to the switch, and mentally counted to three before I turned on the lights, '3,2,1 now!' I flipped the switch illuminating my kitchen only to spot a little boy, maybe in 2nd grade, in my pantry, eating bread from my cabinet. He quickly turned around and we locked eyes for a second.
He had jet black hair with amber eyes and the clothes he wore looked quite normal. He didn't look like some homeless kid, in fact he looked quite normal. "Are you going to say something or just stand there like a idiot? Cause your doing a pretty good job at that. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to continue filling myself" He said nonchalantly as he continued to munch on my bread, "Wow, kid, I think your the one who should explain yourself, why are you here and how did you get in?" He shrugged, "The front door was unlocked." I mentally faced palmed, I can't believe I forgot to lock the door. "Well, why are you here, instead of at your parents house?"
I sat down at the counter as I watched him eat the bread, he shrugged, "Parents? I don't need parents." 'Hes probably a kid who got angry at his parents and left....' I sighed, "Well, bread isn't going to feed you, come on, sit down over here and I'll make you dinner." He scoffed, "You? Cook? Hah, like that would ever go well. You look like you couldn't even make yourself a sandwich." I laughed, "Oh shut up and sit down, I'll make you something." He roled his eyes and sat down at the counter as I began to make him raman noodles and a jelly sandwich. He munched on the food, "Ok, you are now dismissed, woman." I laughed, "Dismissed? I don't think you can dismiss someone if they own the place, and why'd you call me 'woman'?" He shrugged, "Fine, stay, I don't really care woman." There he goes again, 'woman'. Where'd he learn his manners, "Its ma'am or miss, not woman."
He scoffed, "I can call you anything I want, woman." *insert agitated mark on Sakuras head* "Now listen, you're in my house, so you must follow my rules! First off you should be more polite." He sighed, "Fine Madam, is that better?" I smiled, "Yes, yes it is. So what's your name?" He 'hmped' and crossed his arms, "Non of your business." So he wasn't going to tell me his name huh? Well than- "Ash!" He looked at me confused, "Huh?" I smiled widely, "Well, I have to call you something, and your hair is dark like ash, so Ash it is!" He sighed and shrugged.
Ash finished his meal and stood up. "Looks like I'll be going." I quickly stood up, "At this time?! Definitely not! Its dangerous! Here, you can sleep in my bedroom for the night." I put my hand on his head and smiled, until I felt the extreme heat under my hand, " Oh my gosh!" I felt his forehead, "You have a terrible fever!!" I panicked as I scrambled in the pantry to get medicine, "It's not that ba-" he started to protest but I cut him off, "Have you felt your head?! Your burning!"
I finally found the medicine then I picked him up, and like the tsundere he was, he blushed, " W-what are you doing?! Put me down you peasent!" I laughed as I walked to my bedroom, "No, and I thought it was madam." I sat Ash on my bed and I began to measure the medicine for him. I pointed the spoon to him and smiled, "Now open wide!" He shook his head, "Awe, come on, the medicine isn't that bad!" After a few minutes of pressing, he finally opened his mouth and took the medicine.
I layed down next to the small boy and held him in my arms and began to stroke his head. He struggled under my grasp and tried to get up, but I wouldn't let him, "You have to go to sleep little boy!" He sighed and finally gave up and I began to laugh. I turned off the lights. I began to sing Ash to sleep as I stroked his head. After awhile, I could hear him soundly sleeping, and I soon followed.
~
"Oi, woman, wake up! Your crushing me!" I groaned, what time was it? I slowly opened my eyes to see a pair of angry red eyes locked with mine. I smiled, "Good morning!" He sighed, "Don't 'Good morning' me! Get off of me!" I looked down to see me cuddling the little boy and laughed, " oh, sorry." I got up and felt his head, and 'tsked' "You still have a little fever, the good thing is that it's gone down alot."
I clapped my hands together, "Oh! Breakfast! I'll go make some right now!" I ran down the stairs and began to make the usual- eggs, toast, and Bacon. Soon after I finished breakfast, Ash came down and sat on the stools by the counter. I set a plate in front of him then set up a plate of my own. We began to munch on the food and I even got a compliment- I think- from Ash. After we finished we sat at the coffee/dining table. "So, what school do you go to?"
I asked Ash as I smiled, "I'm home schooled." I smiled wider, "So your parents teach you?" He stood up, "No." No? I was about to ask about it until Ash opened the door, "I'm going." I stood up and walked to the door, " Oh, are you heading home?" He paused a moment, "Uh, yeah, sure, do-" he stopped and I smiled wide,
"Continue?" He groaned, "Do you want to come with?" I hugged him, "Of course!" We walked outside. Yet again, the temperature was perfect. "So where's your home at?" He paused again, "Uh, not that far." We started walking until we reached the middle of the town, which was a park, "Whats this?" Ash asks while looking around, I laughed, "Its a park silly! Have you never heard of a park?"
He shrugged, "Not that I can recal." Than Ash looked to the side and actually cursed. Wow. A little second grader cursed. "--he's here." Right when I'm about to scold him, he speaks and I look around, "He's here, who's here?" I looked in the direction he was looking in to see a teen with a white cape on. What? I looked down to see that he held a large, white sword.
He came closer and Ash turned to face him. But then I looked up at the teens face, it was Adam. Adam. I almost died of happiness until he pointed his sword right at the little Ash. "I finally can kill you, you devil, definitely saying that your weak right now." My eyes widened, kill Ash?! Why would he do that?
Ash smirked at Adam while Adam glared. "Try it." Adam rose his sword, but right before he brought it down I stood protectivly in front of Ash. "What the heck do you think your doing Adam! Attacking a harmless child! Not to mention he has a fever!" Adam and Ash, both stood there dumbfounded. "Sakura?" Adam said lowering his guard. "W-woah, you got it wrong, Sakura! He's not innocent at all!" Adam frantically tried to explain the situation but I just stood there, glaring. I turned around and 'hmphed' as I grabbed Ash's hand and began to walk off, "Come on, Ash. I'll get you some ice cream." Ash, still dumbfounded, was dragged along by me, "Uh, o-oh ok?"
We soon found ourselves at a bench with two ice creams. I was burning with anger with Ash was just plain confused, I groaned, "What the heck is that boy doing? He takes the lead role from me but then goes around attacking children? What I'd he doing?!" Ash looked up at me even more confused, "What?"
I sighed, "A few days ago, something defying logic happened. It was one of those moments, that if you did something, it would change your life forever- be the main character. A moment I've been dreaming of and waiting for all my life. But right when I was about to do something, Adam stepped in and took the role of the hero before I could. I had missed my chance to finally live my dream. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't mad at Adam, but I was sad that I had lost my chance, but what is Adam doing with this? Attacking children. Ug, you know what, I'm done with fantasy stuff. I'm just going to accept the role of the side character. It's a lot easier."
I looked down, dejected and stood up as Ash stared at me. I turned and gave him a small smile, "Let's get you home, ok?" He paused, "Sorry, I lied to you." I looked at him confused, "I don't have parents, they died years ago. I just left your house since I wanted to walk around. I actually don't have a home, but- Madam?" I looked at him, wide eyed with tears.
He had lost his parents, too? And at such a young age. I leaned down and hugged the little boy tight, "W-woah, Madam?! I-im sorry! I didn't mean to make you cry! Really! I'm fine!" I hugged him tighter and gave a small smile, "You know, if you need a place to stay... I'm here." He grew silent, I couldn't see his face, but I could feel a small smile, "That would be nice."
