CHAPTER 3
Our class ended earlier than expected so I decided to go to the library. The bell hadn’t rang yet and I’m sure Ren would make me wait. I know women loved it when people wait for them. That was how it always was.
I was taking my time walking as carefree as possible. The moment the bell rang, students gushed out of the classroom doors and filled the corridors. Now aside from walking I also took time greeting everyone I knew along the way.
I don’t want to wait on Ren anyway.
However, to my surprise, when I got to the library she was already there. So there was an exception to that rule. There are some women who could also be on time.
She stood there silently. Head down and looking at the floor, she barely noticed people passing by her to and from the library. The world weren’t even bothered by a girl standing beside the door but then again the girl didn’t bother about the world as well.
“Ren?” I said as I walked closer to her.
She lifted her head and smiled a bit when she saw me. She then changed her expression again and the smile vanished only to be replaced by sadness… or was that disappointment?
"I cannot take you to that library. I am very sorry Mr. Paer." She said sadly.
She looked away, biting her lip a bit and was obviously angry at herself. I was confused but at the same time could not stop myself from pitying her. She did not really have to apologize to me. I could not think of anything she did wrong.
"It's alright." I answered.
She then lit up and lifted the paper bag beside her as she seemed to show it to me. I finally got a peek at its content. They were books... more books as expected.
"But I brought these books for you." She said, beaming with her innocent smile.
She gave the paper bag to me. From the way she carried it I never thought that it would be heavier than I expected. My arm dropped and gave in to the weight of the books as soon as she transferred it to me. I smiled to hide that. I had to act cool.
"That's the most useful of all the books there." Ren said the moment she gave the books to me. Good. She didn’t notice that I lost strength for a second there.
"Thank you." I answered.
"I'm really sorry that I could not take you there." She said bowing her head once more.
"It's okay. You only said that you would bring detailed references, right?"
She looked down and back at me then down at the floor again. I sighed and placed my normal hand on her shoulder. She gave me a surprised gasp so I had to remove my hand.
“This will be really helpful. Thank you.” I said with a smile. The most genuine I had to offer to a woman.
She saw me smile and she finally let her shoulders down. She smiled back.
"Kaya mo bang ibuwis ang buhay mo upang humingi ng kapatawaran…"
The day ended smoothly. Nothing was new aside from the number of books lying at the back seat of my car. I was driving back at my apartment singing to the song being played on the radio.
I still remembered Ren. She was so adorable back there, a pure girl behind glasses and books. I’m sure she would be great in bed if someone would teach her properly.
I smiled to myself. I wouldn’t mind giving her a lesson or two… or three.
Just then the song stopped playing. I changed the station but there was no sound. I changed the volume but nothing. I glanced at the display and everything looked fine. I hit my player a few times thinking that it must've been broken somewhere. I growled a bit and snickered at what I was doing.
