(Katori on age 12)
"Itadakimasu~"
said Katori, then the whole family started having their dinner.
Everyone in the dinning room was eating happily as smiles and laughters spread across their faces.
Instantly, Katori's lips curved into a smile at the sight of her family were chatting away happily.
Suddenly, there was a knock on their door. Katori's father immediately stood up and excused himself to answer the door. All eyes were on him as he walked out of the dinning room.
As silence filled the room, her father came running back and whispered something to Katori's mother.
After she was done listening to his words, her face turned white pale and great shock hits her.
She instantly grabbed Katori's shoulder with eager and said,
"K-katori, w-we...-" , before she could finish, her words were cut off by the sound of windows shattering into pieces coming from the living room as they also heard the door flung open.
Katori's father locked eyes with his wife and his daugther. His face grew serious with a mixture of sadness in his eyes. He then gave them a quick hug and told them,
"Go, please... Run with all your might, I love you two.."
They could almost see the tears in his eyes as the tension grew stronger and heavier..
Katori turned to look at her mother with a worried look plastered across her face, her words broke off when suddenly someone with a rough and loud voice called out,
"COME OUT HERE YOU FREAKIN' HUMAN EATERS!"
Katori's mother immediately lifted Katori up and ran out of the house through the back door. She ran as fast as she could until she reached a rather dim place.
She slowered her pace and slowly put Katori down. Her heart was beating fast as she tried to catch her breath. Then she continued what she was going to say earlier.
"K-Katori, dear, I-I'm sorry that we haven't told you anything up till now."
Katori looked at her mother with a worried and confussed expression.
Her mother looked at Katori deep into her eyes that were filled with pain and sadness.
"Y-your father and I.... a-are actually.. G-Ghouls."
Katori was puzzed by her mother's words as she frowned and asked,
"M-mum, you're kidding right?"
Her mother shooked her head. Katori couldn't believe her words as she thought maybe this was all just some sort of dream. Her mother touched Katori's soft cheeks,
"I-I'm s-sorry, dear, w-we were going to t-tell you this earlier, b-but the timming just wasn't right"
she said with her voice stammered as tears started streaming down her cheeks.
"W-We're very sorry, K-Katori."
Katori was speechless, but she managed to ask her a question. She looked at her mother and said,
"W-will dad be alright, mum?"
Her mother took a deep breath and said,
"I don't know dear.."
then she started sniffing and continued,
"H-he might... be g-gone by now"
Karori's vision instantly blurred as she felt her face starting to turn red. Then she started to burst into tears as she couldn't believe what she had heard.
Suddenly, they heard loud footsteps coming and voices saying,
"WHERE COULD THEY BE?!"
"THEY WON'T BE FAR AWAY, JUST KEEP ON SEARCHING FOR THEM!"
Katori's mother gave her beloved daughter one last hug, and last words,
"Katori Irimi, you must live on".
The tension grew stronger as Katori held on her mother tighter.
"And remember. We, will always love you."
At that moment, Katori realized that everything were happening around her wasn't a dream after all, it's all real, she had to accept the truth of everything that were happening around her.
Finally, she nodded as she spoke to her mother with her soft voice,
"I-I love you too.."
Katori tried to control her tears but its not working.
By that time, a black shadowy figure appered and yelled,
"HEY! I FOUND THEM!"
it was one of the investigators!
Katoru's mother grew alert and darted her eyes towards them as she hid Katori behind her back. She turned back to face Katori with seriousness as her eyes changed to black , ghoul eyes.
"RUN!"
her mother shouted.
Katori quickly stood up and started running, leaving her beloved mother behind.
She slowed down her tracks for a while and turned back to look at her mother one last time. The cold breeze brushed across her face and her curly hair.
Her mother was bravely fighting the investigators with her kagune.
Then one of the inveatigators caught a sight of Katori and yelled,
"DON'T LET THE OTHER ONE GET AWAY!"
She quickly turned her back around and ran for her dear life as she remembered all the cheerful memories when they were together...
Again, she started to cry as tears were rolling down her cheeks while running, and leaving everything behind.
