Shock was written all over my face. I sat back down. I just couldn't believe it. Eve was actually Evelyn Walker. The girl who was taken years ago, as alive and well. It didn't make sense. We saw bloody sugar on the ground. How could she be alive?
"Ethan, what are you still doing out here?" Edgar watched me from the back door. I got and shoved the note in my back pocket.
"Just taking a breather." I said, walking towards the house. He went back inside once i did.
"Boys, c'mon in here. We have a guest." Our mother's voice ranged through the house. We both walked to her she was standing; at the front door. I stopped as soon as I saw May's face.
"May? What are you doing here?" I asked. Her face was tear-stained and eyes were red and puffy. "Mother, please give us a minute alone." I said, taking May in the cottage and sitting her on the couch.
"Oh Ethan, I'm so sorry. I was wrong to leave you. I was pulled into a game of deception, and lies. Liam was already married and was only looking for an a-a-affair." May said, before bursting into sobs again.
I felt so bad for May. I engulfed her in my arms and let her tears soak my shirt. I rubbed her back until her eyes were done shedding tears.
"Ethan, i'm sorry to do this to you on Christmas. I love you." She said, looking dead in the eye.
"May, how can you say 'I love you' when just last night you broke my heart in two?" I asked. She looked at me with disbelief.
"Ethan, I'm the victim here. We were in love." She said, grabbing my hand with a tight grip.
"Exactly. We WERE in love. You left me, heart broken. Now that you're in this state, you want me?" I broke away from her grip and stood up. I walked to the door and opened it for her.
"You are not a victim May. You chose being with him. Now I suggest you leave and spend Christmas with your family." I said, motioning everything with my hand. May stood up and stomped her way to the door.
"You're gonna regret not taking me back Ethan Winter." She said with a menacing look in her eyes. With one last glare, she left. I shut the door behind her and locked it for safety measures.
I walked into the kitchen, where my mom and brother were sipping tea as they didn't hear a thing. I poured myself a cup of tea and sat down with them.
"You did the right thing sugar." My mother said. Her words comforted me. I smiled at her and sipped my tea. Now that everything with May was over, i can focus on Evelyn.

At dinner, we all sat down the kitchen table. Mother had made her special turkey and mashed potatoes. We ate in silence until Mother spoke up.
"I was wondering what you got me Edgar. I don't remember your name on Ethan's present." She said. Edgar's face paled as i snickered.
"Oh of course. I'll be right back." Edgar got up and left the room.
"That boy sure is something else." She said teasingly. I smiled at her, but my mind was somewhere else.
"May I be excused. I feel the need for fresh air." I said. She looked at me worryingly.
"Is everything alright?" She asked. I knew her motherly instincts were kicking in.
"Of course. It just feels stuffy in here, that's all." I said, picking up my empty plate. I put on my winter sweater and walked outside. I walked to the edge of the forest and waited for Evelyn Walker to appear.
"Evelyn?" I called out. No respond. I walked down the edge of the forest.
"Ethan, you came." I turned around and came face to face with Evelyn Walker. The not so dead girl.
"You sound surprised." I stated. She played with her hands, most likely a nervous habit.
"I was unsure if you would come. You're probably wondering a lot of things." She said. I took a step closer to her.
"What happened to you, Evelyn Walker?" I asked, grabbing her hands. Tingles shot through me in a good way. She pulled apart, and sat on an open tree trunk. I sat at the one directly across from her.
"When i was walking home from your cottage, when a pretty blue jay fell at my feet. I followed it into the forest. But i got scared and tried to run. I ended up tripping and was saved by my father." I lightly gasped.
Everyone knew that when Evelyn was born, he fled into the forest. His actions were loud and clear.
"He's a good man. You wouldn't understand. I would need him and i did. Now he thinks that seeing you is bad. He says you'll be the one who ruins his daughter." None of it made sense.
"Evelyn, this doesn't make any sense." I said. She sighed desperately.
"My mother was born half-human, half-vampire. Which makes me a quarter vampire. I get hyped around blood. But my father. He was an alpha's son, as in alpha werewolf. He was chosen to be the mate of my mother by nature.
Of course, he refused to mate her. Eventually he gave in to his wolf, and they had sex, which produce me. A baby girl wouldn't be a good thing to the council, considering what my mother is. My father went to the pack doctor and he preformed the un-mating ritual.
No longer wanting each other, my father stayed to run his pack. When he would need a child to run after him, he came for me. I have alpha blood and i needed to know how to control it before it was too late. I lived with him and his pack. I am to be their future leader. But I had to explore the forest for a reason, which is unimportant right now. That's when i ran into you." She explained.
I sat there with a blank expression on my face. Vampire? Werewolfs? What's next fairies? It processed through my head.
"Okay, so you're telling me that you're sort of an alpha female werewolf with vampire blood in you. Plus you live in the forest, with your kind?" I asked. With a smile, she nodded. I rubbed my face .
"Anything else i should know?" I asked. I looked at her, while she stared at her hands. She seemed nervous.
She stood up and walked towards me. I got up. She embraced me with a hug. "I need to go. Good-bye forever Ethan Winter." She whispered into my ear. She let go but i didn't. I felt the need to stay in her arms.
"Stay, please." I asked in a whisper. She looked in the eye with a lustful gleam. She kissed my cheek and broke apart. I closed my eyes as i let the emotions run through me. I opened my eyes and she was gone. She left me another note.
Dear Ethan,
You know my story, and i trust you keep it a secret, even as they bury you dead, it is to remain a secret. There is one last thing you should know. Every werewolf has a mate. As in soul-mate and Ethan Winter you are my mate. But i can't stay behind with you. My pack needs me and i have to stay with them. To soon to say this but I love you. My wolf craves you. I need you to stay strong and live happy and freely.
With Love,
'Eve'
I read the note before shredding it. Mates? Is that why i am attracted to her beyond belief? I need answers. I need her.
When i walked into the cottage, went straight to bed with a mind set. I would find Evelyn, even if that means entering the forest.

Sorry, i know she has a weird past and it sounded better in my mind but I'm sticking with it.
