~Evelyn's POV~

I woke at dawn, just as the sun was beginning to rise. I walked to the window and took a deep breath of fresh air. The day was full of promise, and promises were meant to be kept. I showered and changed into a warrior fighting outfit. It was a pair of purple and black pants with matching shirt. I walked towards the kitchen, stopping when I heard whispering.

"I can't believe she has a mate." It was Russia. She was a sweet girl, but turn on her and she'll be your worst nightmare.

"I can't believe Alpha didn't murder the kid." It was Aimee, another girl in the pack. She had dark brown hair with matching eyes. She was loud and wild, but was shy around new people.

"He is quite the looker, I must say." Russia said. My fist clenched at the thought of Russia having the slightest crush on Ethan. "But I must say, Steward will have my heart." My fist unclenched. Russia liked Steward? Could they possibly be mates.

"You're so whipped around that boy. What if you meet your mate? I mean Alpha doesn't like anyone having a mate, only the parents. I'm surprise he let Evelyn's mate stay. Everyone thought he would've killed him on the spot." I decided to walk, as if I hadn't been listening.

"Hey guys." I said, sitting down next to them. I grabbed an apple and took a bite out of it. "What's up?" I asked. They stared at me, and I stared back.

"Stop looking at us like that!" Russia said. I laughed.

"You started staring at me first, so stared back. Calm down Russia." I said. She sighed and nodded.  They both walked out the room and began to whisper. I rolled my eyes and walked outside to Ethan's cottage. I knocked lightly on the door.

It opened in mere seconds. Ethan stood at the doorway, shirtless and half awake. I blushed easily at the sight of my half naked mate. He rubbed his face and turned to look at me.

"Hi beautiful." He said, giving me a quick kiss on the cheek, making me blush even more. I entered the cottage, and saw that he was already settled. "Is everything ok?" He asked. I nodded, and sat at the kitchen table.

"I was wondering if you would like to see me practice today. I'll be in my human form for practice." I said, so I wouldn't freak him out. But he looked at me weirdly.

"Human form?" He asked. His face was red with embarrassment, and so was mine. I nodded and he slowly nodded back. He changed as I started reading a small book he had on the shelf. It was incredibly had to focus with him getting dressed.

"I'm ready." He said. I nodded and we walked out the door together. Everyone was gathering towards the main cottage in a hurried manner. I caught the attention of Steward.

"Steward, what's going on?" I asked. With everyone in panic, I tried not to panic or else my other side would appear. My panic was eased by Ethan, with him holding me hand.

"Something's wrong with Alpha. Said, he returned from the woods this morning. Apparently looks like he was in a fight. An unfair fight." Steward said, then walked away.

I looked at the cottage. My father was in a fight, alone? It didn't make any sense. I ran towards the cottage leaving Ethan to follow in behind. Fear began to settle in my blood, making it pump. I couldn't let the others see me like this. I ran to the forest, transforming into my wolf form. My bones cracked into position. It was uncomfortable, but after awhile it felt good. I ran and ran until I reached the end of the forest and reaching the beginning of a patch of clear land. I sat down and let the tears slid down. I began to turn humane again. I sat there and cried. I cried of Veronica and her love. I cried for my father's well-being. I cried because I was strong for too long.

"He's fine." I turned my head and notice Veronica there. Her eyes were red and puffy like mine. "I brought you a set of clothes." She set them next to me. She sat next to me, watching the sky.

"I'm sorry." I mumbled. She snapped her head towards me. She didn't say anything, just nodded. I took the clothes and changed behind the tree. When I came out, she was gone.

I sighed and wiped the left over tears away. I walked through the forest and back to the pack. Everyone was either in there own cottage or doing something that was away from the main cottage. I entered the main cottage. It was almost silent, other then the noise of someone groaning and screaming in pain was heard. I walked upstairs, towards the room of my father. I stood there, waiting for the right moment to enter.
