Chase's POV

Class went on the same next period. The only difference was that Kody, Mason, Em, and Jem weren't there.

Yes it was very noticeable.

Now it was officially fourth period and it sounds like my free period is calling me!

I grinned and hastily got up, ready to see this school in action. And maybe cast a glance at people. At some certain people...

Kody. *cough* Kody!

No!

But my mind said something else entirely.

And I hated myself for it.

I headed out my classroom. I glanced left and right and saw other classes still working next to mine. I'll meet the other teachers later.

I made my way down the stairs all the way to the ground floor towards the cafeteria. I peeked inside. No sign of anybody I knew. Not even her. I saw some kids from my gang but got out of there before they noticed me.

I didn't need them sucking up like new fish always do.

We only recruit seniors. We decided to put an age limit seeing as if we get caught by the police, we don't need a bratty kid blabbing to the police. The Valentines are a whole different story. They don't have an age limit. At least, I don't think they do. It's not like we actually sit down and discuss this. All I know is that they have really good fighters. Don't have a clue on how they recruit or where from.

I gloomily made my way to check out the rest of the school.

I walked past the gym and looked in. There were kids all seated listening to a PowerPoint on the Gym Rules.

I looked through the crowd of kids and saw her. Kody. She was sitting with Kylie -was it?- and Mason! DuPont better get his fucking paws off her! You shouldn't touch a girl like that if you're not dating her. They're not dating right?

I watched as Kody looked around, clearly bored from hearing the same presentation for the past three years. She looked towards my direction.

I had a strong urge to duck but stayed where I was. I was a teacher. I was not violating any rules by being here. I had a fucking right. And even if I didn't I would still be here.

I watched as she smiled towards my direction. Was she smiling -at me? I looked around and saw a teacher, clearly. I saw him even as the gym was dark. He had on a tie and a white shirt. He was leaning against a wall close to the doorway I was standing in and looking straight in Kody's direction. I tilted my head to see his face. He had a huge grin on his face. He didn't look like anyone I've ever seen before.

I looked back at Kody to see her smiling back at him too. Who the hell was he? Was he part of Valentine?

I leaned back against the door but the door clicked loose and fell on me. And I slipped back against the door and fell after hearing the door slam against the outside wall.

While the gym teacher rushed to open the lights, I scrambled up.

The lights turned on and all of the students faced towards me and the other guy, who was rubbing the back of his neck ashamed.

My face heated a little.

The gym teacher looked alarmed. I think his name was Mr... Well I don't know what his name was.

"Umm. Hello?" He intelligently said.

"Well..." The other guy started.

"Mr. Hensley?" The gym teacher asked.
