"Oh it was incredible! Honestly, I thought it would hurt the first time, but it felt so fucking good!" Max wouldn't shut up about his damn girlfriend. They've been dating for a couple of months now, and both of them were virgins. Being 18, they thought they were too old to be virgins. Me however, I'm not sure sex is all that important.
"Max, I'm pretty sure it only hurts the girl." Tabitha said. Tabby was the wise one of our little trio. She was also the hot one. And honestly, I'm surprised she even hangs out with us. She had the opportunity to be with the cool kids. They still, to this day, ask if she wants to sit with them at lunch, but for some reason, which I cannot explain for the life of me, she chooses to sit with us. Goofy old Max, and nerdy old me.
"Maybe it could hurt the guy, if you were gay."
"Max, you aren't gay. And you had sex with a girl. So it's not like that's a possibility." She said, fixing her hair. She had natural black hair, but somehow it wasn't dark. It seemed light. I don't know if that was because it had never been dyed, or just because it was on Tabby, but it just seemed light.
"I could be gay."
"Well you're dating a girl, you won't quit staring at that girls cans" she pointed to a table across from us "and you've never been interested in a guy. So no, Max, I do not think you are gay." Tabby had an opinion on everything. From sports to food. And she never lets her opinion go unheard. But honestly, that's the reason she's my best friend. You know, besides Max.
"Newt, Are you even listening to me?" I snapped out of my trance to see them both looking at me.
"Hmm? Sorry?"
"Are you coming to the party tomorrow? It might be good for you. It's been months since you've had a girlfriend." Max explained, but I don't need a girlfriend. All I need is myself. And my comics.
"And why is that important?"
"Because it isn't healthy to be alone all the time. Come on, come with me and Tabby. I promise we will find you a girl and you can have as much fun as you want with her." Max said, a bit... Too enthusiastic. A little worrying.
"Max! You can't say that! He can do whatever the hell he wants. For gods sake Max he doesn't have to sleep with her!" Tabby hit his arm, leaving Max in pain. Which I thought was quite brilliant. If she hadn't of done it, I would've.
"Ow!" He exclaimed, making me laugh.
"I'm not interested in getting a girlfriend, or getting laid, but I will go to this party if it's that important to you."
"Okay, then it's settled. I will pick you up from your house at 8." Tabitha pulled her phone out and typed something. I heard a ping from my pocket. "That's the address. I know how overprotective your mum can get so just pass that on to her."
"I Gotta go. My mum wants me home in 20 minutes and I don't even know the bus route yet." I said pulling my phone out. I quickly searched the bus timetable in my phone while jamming all of my things into my bag.
"Okay, see you tomorrow then?" Max said. "And I'm serious. No Fake illness bullshit. You hear me?"
"Yes I hear you. See you tomorrow." I quickly walked off.
My mum was great, but she was always concerned. I couldn't even go to the one shop opposite our house until I was 16 without parental supervision. We owe a lot of money to my dad. My mum didn't intend to be left in debt, but she also didn't intend to get left at all. My dad is a very cruel, deceptive piece of shit. He tricked us into owing us money, and threatens us on a daily basis. That's why my mum cares so much. She's always scared he's going to come back. She's always scared he's going to hurt me.
"Mum! I'm home!"
"Hey sweetie!" She walked out of the kitchen and her face was lit up like a lightbulb.
"Someone looks happy? Everything okay?"
"Oh everything's wonderful! I found a job! A great one!"
"Oh mum that's fantastic! What is it?"
"Well there's this bakery up south. I know it's far, and If I could pack up Tabby and Max, I would. But I can't. If you don't want to leave we can sort-"
"Mum we are going. Sure, Tabby and Max are great. But we don't need to be with each other every second of every day. We have Skype." I said. This sucked. I tried to hide it, for my mums sake. But Tabby and Max are the only friends I've ever had, and probably the only friends I ever WILL have. Yea, it's great that she found a decent job to escape from my dad, but Ive never lived without Tabitha and Max. And I don't know how I could. But I can't let that stop us. We have to get out of this eventually, and all I want is for my mum to be happy. We are moving to.... To.... Wait where are we moving exactly.
"Hey mum? Where is this safe haven?"
"New Haven." Ha. Ironic.
We are moving to New Haven.
