Scott pov

I walked through the door and took Vincent out of my bag before dropping it on the floor. I set him down and started to look at my old naga books on the shelf. I flipped through a few of them to refresh my memory.

Nagas grow abnormally fast compared to humans. They grow quickly and mature in a matter of years. They often mark their territory and family. Males do so with their horns that produce an oder to warn others of their territory and "property". They will often rub their horns on their territory, family, and future mates to mark that it's theirs. Nagas will avoid humans and attack if it feels threatened. If you are to encounter a hatchling it is advised to destroy it. If it is a mature naga it is wise to back away slowly and avoid eye contact.

I closed the book. It sickened me.

How could anyone be so heartless and destroy a hatchling? It's just a baby! I would never kill Vincent. He's too docile.

I sat next to him and he slithered onto my lap. I smiled. He curled up on my lap and fell asleep. I sighed as I started to doze lightly.

I was woken up by a knock at my door. I carefully moved Vincent off my lap so I wouldn't wake him up. He instantly curled up. I answered the door to see mike. ((A/N Mike is a human in the story))

"Hey Scott!" Mike spoke loudly.

I gestured for him to lower his voice. I looked back at Vincent who stirred lightly and I sighed.

"You could've woken him Mike..." I said quietly.

Mike looked confused. I lead him to Vincent and his eyes widened.

"Scott are you crazy?!" He screeched.

Vincent woke up quickly and moved away from Mike, hissing at him. Vincent's big white eyes showed fear.

"Mike you're scaring him!" I yelled.

"Why the hell is that monster in your house?!" He screeched while pointing at Vincent.

Vincent's eyes showed that he was hurt by Mike's words. I was upset.

"Don't you dare call him that!" I snapped.

Vincent hid under a blanket.

"That thing will murder you!" Mike argued.

Mike was making me very mad.

"He is not a thing! His name is Vincent!" I growled.

"Oh so now it has a name?" Mike snapped.

"Of course he has a name! Stop treating him like some sort of animal!"

Mike and I argued back and forth for a good twenty minutes before he stormed out. I was very upset.

Mike is so ignorant! He calls Vincent a monster before he even knows how sweet he really is!

I sat down next to the bundle of blankets that Vincent was hiding in only to discover he was crying.

He's crying.

I frowned, pulling the covers away. His scales rose and he hissed but stopped once he realized it was me. He sniffled and slithered onto my lap, curling up and going to sleep.
