Team APNR: A RWBY and Steven Universe Fanfiction

Initiation Begins

 "For years you have trained to become warriors. And today your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest." Professor Ozpin stated.

"Now I'm sure you have been hearing about the assignment of teams. Well, let's put an end to your confusion. You'll be given teammates... today." Glynda said.

You can hear a faint "What? Aww.. " from Ruby.

"These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So, it is with your best interest to be paired up with someone you can work with. That being said, the first person that you make eye contact with when you land will be your partner for the next four years." Ozpin clearly states.

"What?" Ruby said, shattered.

"After you have partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet our position along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy anything in your way." Ozpin said. "You will be monitored and graded for the duration of your initiation. But our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. You will guard that item, and as well as your standing and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions? Good, now take your positions."

All the students take their positions, preparing for the launch pad to launch them into the air. The pads launched the students one by one. Nora, Ren, Mari, Pyrrha, Weiss, Yang, and Ruby all soared through the air.

Different students had different landing strategies. Ruby used the gun part of her scythe to slow herself down, swing on a branch to get to the ground. Yang crashed through some trees to slow down and land with a somersault. Mari used her gem power to create the air in front of her thick so it would slow her down and she slowly glided to the ground gracefully. She then sprinted towards the temple, slowing down due to an unnatural feeling that she had. The grimm. She had made a few friends with a couple of them in the past, but they all had very short lifespans, that compared to a human. Compared to Mari, they were little specks of dust. She can't age, but she can still die. Technically you can say that she is immortal, but not really, due to she can still die. While the whole thing was going on inside her head, a beowolf managed to strut up next to her. She reached over to pet the wolf and it snuggled up against the outstretched hand. Mari had made a grimm friend, which is unheard of even in this time of peace.

Mari heard some more rustling in the trees right next to her, and her wolf which she conveniently named "Flask", just something that she thought about at the time, was growling in a defensive manner. Almost as if he was protecting her, even if they met just a couple moments ago. She had a way with animals. Mari looked in between the tree line and Pyrrha jumped out of the bushes and made eye contact with Mari. Pyrrha took one look at the creature and got her spear out, ready to attack Flask, who was on it's hind legs in a defensive position. Pyrrha took the first move towards Flask and Mari took some water from the surrounding air to make a durable barrier between the two, cutting each other off from harm. She put down the wall and looked at Pyrrha.

"Why?" Mari said with a dangerous glaring look.

"Excuse me?"

"He didn't do anything to you! You can't just attack something you don't understand! Flask just has a bad outward appearance. Come here, pet him! He won't bite, I won't allow it!"

"Are you sure? You know, huntresses are made to fight these creatures."

"And I'm here to change that. Come!" Mari said waving her hand to indicate to come closer to the beowolf.

Pyrrha cautiously reached her hand to Flask, who was curling his lip, but he still allowed to touch her. He eventually warmed up to her and rolled on his stomach.

"Boy, you really have a way of taming these creatures."

"I've had practice, and the best teacher."

"Really? Who?" Pyrrha said with a quizzical look.

"Rose Quartz."
