My alarm clock rings. Loudly. With the weekend now over, school's starting. Fun. Not.

I mean, I don't hate school or anything, it's fun in a way. Friends, making fun of teachers, etc. But I really didn't see the point, and who really saw school as fun. Also, it wasn't like I had that many friends . . . OK, I only really had Opal. I got along with all the other girls at school (except the popular crowd) and I'm not unpopular. Opal and I are just kind of . . . In-between.

I roll out of bed, nearly hitting the floor and barely catching myself with one hand. Sure, I was a Halfling, but I had adapted the Human habit of sleeping and it turned out I liked it. I mean really, who wants to get out of bed. I stumble around my apartment until I find the closet. I open the door and walk in (yeah, it's a walk-in closet).

It's phys-ed today, so I had to find something to wear that I could easily move around in. Also, self defense unit was up soon and that either needed loose clothing, or clothes that were stretchy. I look around until I find a nice white, light, loose t-shirt. It had some flowers lightly drawn onto it. Then I put on a pair of light blue shorts (loose of course) and strappy sandals (since we didn't wear shoes for self defense. Make up was hard, since my eye colour changed, so I just wore natural colours and my hair I just scraped into a high ponytail.

Now self defense was nice because I knew it all already. I kind of naturally acquired it. Whenever my classmates asked how, I just said I had a private tutor who taught me all of them combined. I had to say this, as my martial art skills weren't specified. But there was this one boy who I couldn't beat. I we were always placed together and ended up stopping the whole class from sparring because they were watching us. Actually, both that boy and I couldn't spar with anyone else, as the school feared we would seriously harm the other students. But the things was, that sparring continued out of class. But this time it was verbal . . . Mostly. I didn't like the guy, and as far as I could tell, he didn't like me. Worse, he was very popular.

That boy's name was Will, or William and he was a year older than me. So how did we end up in the same gym class then? Well, due to my advanced . . . Well everything, I was put a year ahead in gym class. But that was the only class, as I still had to retain some semblance of normalness. So for all by other classes, I stayed in 'my' grade. I just had to pretend and I was getting better at it.

I grabbed my breakfast a shoved it down. Eating was another Human habit I enjoyed. Then I grabbed my bag a shoved my computer into it. Only my computer as that was what my school wanted the students to use. You see, it was much more technology based from middle school on than most other schools. It was a private co-ed school for the rich and stuck-up kids in this area. Mount Edison Hall. It was usually called Mount Ed, but it also had a very nice acronym. MEH.

We had a uniform once, but recently, it had been abandoned due to complaints from the more influential families. A.K.A. the richer families who gave more money to the school. My 'family' was one of them. I had been going there since kindergarten and once decided to change a few things. I didn't like uniforms, I think that was obvious. Once I had gotten the movement started, it wasn't long until they had almost everyone complaining. Now, we were trying it out. But only for the high school, which was fine by me.

The doorbell rang and I grabbed my bag and went out to greet Opal.

. . . . . . . . . .

It was sunny and warm as I walked into the high arched gate with Opal. I tipped my head towards the sky. It was great to look at the sky, where one day, I yearned to be able to fly. I smiled happily, until I tripped and fell. Right smack into someone, knocking them over and landing on top of them. I roll off, leap up and go to apologize, until I see who it is. Will. Knowing him, he probably also tripped me up.
