Forbidden Halfling

Chapter One

I'm a Halfling. That is a mix between two of the supernatural races. Normally that'd be fine. Angel and Fey. Nymph and Pixie. Gosh, even Unicorn and Human. Everyone loves the idea of two supernatural races coming together through the boundaries of 'forbidden' love. I've seen so many of these kinda stories in the Human world.

People's favorite seems to be the love between an Angel and a Demon. That love is forbidden. It happens once in a blue moon. Sure it's great in question, but what about the ending? I'm not talking about the typical ones like the Angel cutting off his or her wings to be able to live with the Demon. Or maybe them running away to live in solitude together forever. I'm talking about something smaller, but just as important. Maybe a child? I mean, what happens to him or her?

Since the story ends happily ever after, people assume it just continues like that forever. But it doesn't. Not normally. They grow bored, go back, etc. Sometimes they have rendezvous, but that's about it. Eternity is a long time to spend in seclusion with one person.

So where does the child fit in? They can't go to Heaven. Angel hate Demons, and vice versa for Hell. (Pus, who wants to go there? Good luck surviving). Fey Hate with a capital H demons. Most of them, but no demon would risk funding one that doesn't. Unicorns hate Demons too. Nymphs and Sirens hate angels. The lists just goes on, and trust me, there are none who like both. Or none have come out of been found.

So the child is left in the Human world. But they can't fit in, not really. They can look like Humans, but the mannerisms don't quite fit, and having human carefreeness doesn't exactly work either. Demons and Angels are born with knowledge of their ancestry, name, powers, and a few other things. So the Halfling is born with knowledge from both sides, albeit slightly more limited. Which is why I don't understand why the sides wouldn't want to snatch up the baby to use as a weapon. Maybe they don't realize this? I don't know. They probably don't. They're too rare.

So anyway, you'd think that the Angel-Demon Halflings would band together for survival? They don't. Well, actually, I can't say for sure. As well.... There. Are. None. Other than me, of course. So I'm left to struggle in the Human world and make my way. My powers help for sure, but beyond that, I'm on my own. Literally.

Well, that's the first chapter! (Only 350 words, I know I'm sorry this is so short but look at it like a prologue.)
