When I pulled up I jumped out of my car and ran into the house. I heard their two distinct masculine voices coming from dad's office, nothing too cutthroat was happening so I decided to just stand outside the door and listen. I wanted to hear something being said, any bit of information that will fill me in on what I am not understanding about my dad and his hostility.

"You are a coward, Artem" Maks voice boomed.

"I'm twice the man that you are, I can't believe we are even having this discussion right now... In my house. Just go."

"No, I came here to get you out of this house, away from all the business, for god sake do you even know what is going on in Aleks life, huh? What about Vlad's routine for nationals? Vlad deserves better, it's time he learns the truth.." Maks said sounding disgusted at him.

The truth? What did Maks mean? What are they hiding from me? I did everything in my power to stop myself from entering the room and demanding answers. I want to know more about the past, about my parents, about Maks, yet dad won't talk about it and Maks is obviously afraid to be honest with me.

"You know Emma didnt want Vlad to ever find out!" Dad said "Your lucky you get to spend so much time with him, what more do you want?"

"For him to have a father!" He exclaimed.

I heard Maks approaching the door and so I jumped around the corner making sure I didn't get caught. However, Maks saw me as he turned the corner. He looked at me sternly, winked and then continued walking out of the house.

Maks knew that I was outside the door, he knew I was going to follow him home and that I would want to hear what was being said. He deliberately brought up the fact that my dad was hiding something from me.

I tried to run after him, but once again he sped off faster than I could catch him.
