The dreams that awaited me that night left me scarred. I was in a pitch black room with a spotlight coming from somewhere, hanging over me. I couldn't see anything, but if anything was out there, they could see me. "Hello?" I call out. No answer.
I hear feet shifting against the floor, which I also couldn't see. But no one was answering my calls, or was speaking. I start getting really nervous, and was starting to feel dizzy. Wha-what is this? I start to think if this was how I'm going to be punished for letting Julio do this to me. I know Devon said I never did anything, but I still felt like it was all my fault...
"Devon, what if she doesn't forgive me?" I whispered to him before I fell asleep.
"She will, you know that. Just try to explain yourself and let her know you didn't make the first move, he did." Devon's eyes pierce into my soul. His warm, dark brown eyes, telling me that I was safe from the world's harm.. for now.
"Okay.." I barely whisper back.
I feel the whole room shaking. And as it's shaking, I feel it closing in on me. I don't know what's happening, and everything seems to be falling down into some abyss. Then I hear muffled voices.
"Devon, what's happening to her?" I can barely recognize Blake's voice because it's so muffled. It's just like static. You can hear it, but then you can't hear it.
"I don't know!" Devon replies to Blake anxiously. Is he worried about me? Are they worried about me?
"Well come on! Try to wake her up! I can't stand seeing her like this!" Julio tells Devon. Did Julio just say—
"Why are you so concerned?" Colt asks Julio, knowing he's up to something.
"Um.. Nothing, why? Can it not be normal to not want to see her with cold sweats? She's screaming as loud as hell and someone's going to find us!"
I'm now falling deeper and deeper into the abyss as they keep trying to wake me up. I want to wake up, but for some reason I'm not. I can't see anything. It's dark. I'm cold, scared, and lonely. How am I supposed to wake up??
All of a sudden light starts flooding my vision again, and as everything starts to focus, I see Devon, Colt, Blake, and Julio all looking down at me.
"Uh.. Did I do something?"
"You were screaming, almost as if you were possessed or something. I think that we were heard somewhere... And you had cold sweats, too," Blake tells me, informing.
"Oh.."
"Do you need anything?" Both Devon and Julio asked me this at the same time.
"Uh.." I lose my train of thought. I look at Devon, then at Julio, then back to Devon. "I'll be right back." I slowly stand up and start walking to the mouth of the cave.
"Where is she going now?" I barely hear Blake ask.
"We'll go with her," I hear Julio reply.
"We?" Devon asks him.
"Yes, we." I hear them get up and start walking. They're pretty far behind but they're still within earshot, so I would be able to hear them if they were conversing.
"Julio, what are you doing?" I hear Devon ask.
"What do you mean?"
"You're acting more friendly and flirty towards her."
"What? Who said I was trying to be flirty?"
"Um, maybe she said it herself?" I try to pretend like I didn't hear them. Just look straight ahead, don't turn your head around. Keep walking, keep walking...
"What's the deal about it?"
"She's saying that she feels like she's disrespecting one of her friends because of you doing whatever you're doing."
"I'm not even doing anything!" Sure you're not, I think to myself.
"Well she said she doesn't feel comfortable and that it doesn't feel right."
I stop in my tracks. "Devon.."
"Yeah?"
"Can I talk to Julio.." I slowly turn around, "Alone, please?"
"Um.." He looks at Julio, "Alright, I'll be over there." He points to his far left and I nod. He starts walking, and I'm alone with Julio.
"You wanted to talk about something?" Julio asks.
"Yeah, listen," I whisper to him, "Can you stop trying to act flirty around me? You know Wendy's going to get mad-"
He leans in and whispers into my ear. When he backs away, I felt like doing a billion cartwheels (even though that's impossible because I can't even do one) right here in front of him. But then I felt like climbing to the top of the mountain and free falling, without any protection, knowing that it would solve all of my problems. "W-why would you say that?"
"Because I felt like it was time I told someone how I actually felt about it." I can still see the green in his eyes, even if the night washes away the world's color. Wait a minute, why am I thinking like this?!
"Julio, I can't, even when you've told me how-"
"Shh.." He puts a finger to my lips.
"What are you doing?" I look at him.
"She's watching us. We can't let her know."
"Julio, tell me what the heck are you doing?!"
He whispers into my ear again to tell me what she cannot know. I look up at him, "Why?"
"Because if she knew she'd kill us both." I laugh with him for awhile, thinking that we were still alone, completely forgetting Devon was still nearby.
"Are you guys done yet?" Devon asks us an obvious tone of jealousy in his voice, "Because the last thing we need is an ambusher attacking us while we're out in the open."
We both turn around to face him.
"Yeah," I look up at Julio, "I guess we are."
