I instantly crashed the moment my head hit the pillow. I was so drained from last night that I could barely keep my eyes open while walking back to camp. I started getting wobbly, which eventually led to Julio carrying me back. We tried to be quiet because everyone else was fast asleep, and we didn't want to draw attention to ourselves in the middle of the night.
The next morning, I felt the sun shining on my face, and I squinted my eyes and sat up. Then I could hear yelling in the distance.
"WHAT THE HELL, JULIO?! YOU EXPECT ME TO DIE JUST SO YOU CAN GO HOME TO ANTHONY?! I HAVE TO GET HOME TO MY BROTHER, TOO!"
"Colt, calm down-"
"NO! I AM NOT GOING TO CALM DOWN UNTIL YOU TELL ME WHY YOU WOULD THINK I'D AGREE WITH YOUR PLAN!"
"Ugh, Colt. Now's not the time."
"What the fucking hell?" I whisper to myself. I stand up and quietly walk toward them. Colt's getting more and more furious, and Julio's trying to calm him down and reason out something.
"OH YEAH? WELL NOW'S NOT THE TIME FOR YOU TO THINK THAT I'D SACRIFICE MYSELF SO YOU CAN HAVE THE GIRL!"
I'm shocked as the words escape from Colt's mouth.
"What?" Julio asks, confused.
"Oh fuck." He's realized that what he said sounded like the exact opposite of what he was trying to say.
"Did you just say... What I think you just said?!"
"I didn't mean it like that, I swear." He slowly moves backwards and Julio grips his sword.
"Well then how did you mean it?" He has a force in his voice. He's going to do it now. Right here. In front of me and our team.
He's going to kill him.
I see Julio raise the sword above his head. A pain in my chest starts to form, knowing that I won't be able to collect myself if Colt dies. He takes in a deep breath, and the sword is aimed straight for his heart.
Shink!
"What the-"
My iron sword blocks his diamond. "I'm not letting you do this, Julio. Not now." I take in deep breaths to keep myself standing.
"Jayme, I-"
"Just don't kill him yet." I tell him, a pleading tone in my voice, "Please."
He stares at me with a stone cold gaze, tensing up a bit. He finally relaxes and his gaze softens. He lowers his sword. "Fine, I won't kill him." He looks at Colt with despise. Colt stands up and brushes off some dirt that was on his shirt.
"Same." Colt grips onto his sword tightly.
"Guys, don't do this now." I try to reason with both of them. It would eventually end up to where they both have to 1v1 each other. I understood that part, it's just that I didn't want to see them fighting now.
"Did you hear that?" Blake suddenly asks. We all look around but we see nothing.
"No. Blake are you okay?" Devon asks him.
"I heard something, I'm not kidding. It was coming from the tree over there." He points to a tree near the mouth of the cave. And for a split second I see black and blond hair peek out. It was about to her mid back, and it looked like she had the same figure as me. Short and thin. I slowly take a step forward and then I can instantly recognize the girl's face. "Montse!" I whisper to her, "What the hell are you doing here?! You're going to get yourself killed!"
