When Julio and I finally leave the Bat Cave, I felt like a whole new me. I felt like I didn't have to suck up to whatever other people wanted me to do or not to do. I was more confident than I had been before. I was taking on a new look in life, and I think this is the best change I've ever made.
With my iron sword equipped, I was ready for action. I would kill a tribute outside of our guild and wouldn't have a second thought. And while we were on the road, we had run into 3 solo tributes, and we slaughtered them like there was no tomorrow. Blood splattered everywhere, and screams of pain and terror escaped our victims' mouths as they were repeatedly stabbed to death. We were ended up with pale, lifeless bodies stained with dark red everywhere. All life had left them, and we were certain that they weren't coming back from the dead.
Devon had gotten his first sponsored item, too. A metallic container fell out of the sky with a parachute attached to it. Floating down onto a patch of grass, Devon picks up the item, and it's packed inside of a small container. He presses a specific button, and the container turns into a stack of 15 arrows and a bow. "Holy Jesus!" I can hear the joy in his voice as he says it. "We're going to kick some serious butt now!" We all laugh and head back to the Cornucopia, knowing for a fact that someone was going to be lurking in the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
On the way there, I quietly tell them, "Guys, I know who we're going after next." They all look to face me.
"Who?" Emily asks.
We all huddle in and I whisper the name. Evil grins and laughter are conversed throughout the group, and I knew that they all agreed with me.
"So, what's the game plan?" Julio whispers. Everyone looks at him because apparently no one has heard him whisper before. Is it really that shocking?
I look at all five of them and I whisper every single drop of ideas I had to them. We had to discuss over some things and other ideas were agreed on immediately. I smiled throughout the entire time because I could finally end what was bugging me all along. Ever since the beginning.
She was just where we suspected she would be. Two other tributes were standing inside of the lighthouse. Foolish they are indeed, I think to myself. I ready my iron sword, and everyone prepares to attack. Swift moves that didn't leave a footstep on the ground or a rustle in the bushes. Julio and I stuck together for this one, having the advantage of attacking them from behind while the others were going for the front. Devon was on the far left, aiming his bow right for one of our victims. Blake on the left, but close to the center of corn, prepares his flint and steel. Colt and Emily both grip their swords and prepare to go in and start fighting if we needed backup.
Devon releases the arrow and it hits her side perfectly. She cries in pain as she falls to the ground.
"What? How did this happen?" the girl asked her ally.
"I don't know." An arrow goes straight through her ally's heart, and she's as good as dead. She had enough strength to stand back up on her feet. Big mistake, I think. Her back is to me and Julio, so we both sneak up behind her, ready to end her misery. Her brown hair is still straight from the first day, and I just roll my eyes. Let's just get this over with..
She knows that someone is behind her, because I hear a faint little gasp escape from her mouth. She slowly turns around, and the moment she realizes who's behind her, I kick her to the ground and start stabbing her repeatedly. She screams in pain and I keep stabbing her, because she deserves to die this way. For being a part of making me feel like I was worth nothing. For making me miserable.
For letting her get to me.
Everyone else rushes in after I finally drain the life out of her. Blake burns her corpse and the flames engulf her. Her dark brown hair is nothing more but grey ashes. She will never see the light of another day, and I've finally ended the annoyance and the pain in my life. For now, anyway.
