A/N; Another song, yet again won't leave my head! Nathan needs his moment in time. I hope that you enjoy it. :)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The diner was empty, except for two people.

Balloons, banners and streamers hung from every corner. The celebration over, the cleaning up beginning.

"Remind me; how did you and I get left to clean up this mess?" Nathan asked Sang.

"Well," Sang pursed her lips, "basically, everyone left!" She continued to gather up the cups and plates from the tables. Nathan held a large bin bag out for her to put the rubbish in. "Thanks," she said.

A shy smile crossed Nathan's face. Sang glanced at him as she deposited the next lot of rubbish. "What?" she queried.

"We're alone." The statement that left Nathan's lips hung in the air.

Alone.

"Oh," was the only sound that left Sang's lips. Slowly, Nathan took the bin bag from Sang's hands and set it down upon the floor.

"I have an idea," he mused. "Don't move!"

Sang stood rooted to the spot. Her eyes followed Nathan's form as he made his way over to the DJ booth. Suddenly, the lights dimmed and the diner returned to the starlit world it had been, just a couple of hours before.

A small area with wooden flooring that had been filled to capacity earlier, was now strewn with tiny glitter and foil confetti. Soft glowing lanterns hung overhead. A fairytale setting.

Nathan strode purposefully towards Sang. He extended his hand out to her and spoke just once word, "Dance?"

Sang smiled and extended her hand towards his. Nathan led them towards the make-shift dance floor. Once in the centre, he opened the palm of his right hand. A small, tiny device sat in it. He aimed the device towards the DJ booth and then pocketed the device.

Nathan gently pulled Sang towards him and placed one hand around her waist. The other hand he grasped in his and held them both close to his chest. Sang placed her free hand upon Nathan's shoulder and then slid it along the back of his neck. They held each other close."I've always wanted to play this song for you," Nathan confessed.

The music began.

Nathan placed his lips over Sang's ear and whispered the opening line.

Let me be your hero

Sang shivered in response.

Would you dance if I asked you to dance?

Would you run and never look back?

Would you cry if you saw me crying?

Would you save my soul tonight?

Slowly they began to move. Together, in time, to the words that Nathan had held in his heart from the moment he met Sang. He remembered that beautiful, naive, innocent girl that he met in the woods. She had captured his heart and his soul that day.

Would you tremble if I touched your lips?

Would you laugh? Oh, please tell me this.

Now would you die for the one you love?

Hold me in your arms, tonight.

Nathan lowered his head to place a light chaste kiss on Sang's lips.

The verification that she was real, was justified by that touch.

This was not a dream, but rather a memory in creation.

I can be your hero, baby.

I can kiss away the pain.

I will stand by you forever.

You can take my breath away.

Would you swear that you'll always be mine?

Would you lie? Would you run and hide?

Am I in too deep? Have I lost my mind?

I don't care. You're here tonight.

I can be your hero, baby.

I can kiss away the pain.

I will stand by you forever.

You can take my breath away.

Nathan remembered the times that Sang had endured pain. Her heart broken by those who should have loved her, but didn't. Her body broken by those who should have nurtured it, but didn't.

"I can be your hero baby.

I can kiss away the pain.

I will stand by you forever."

He whispered those lines as the song played. Every line, from his heart, from his soul, a vow to be there, to the end.

Oh, I just want to hold you.

I just want to hold you, oh, yeah.

Am I in too deep? Have I lost my mind?

Well, I don't care. You're here tonight.

I can be your hero, baby.

I can kiss away the pain, oh, yeah.

I will stand by you forever.

You can take my breath away.

Nathan released Sang's hand and cupped her face with both of his. Sang who's eyes had been closed, caught in this dream, opened them to find Nathan's beautiful, blue eyes gazing into hers.

Then he kissed her.

It was a kiss that Sang would never forget. A kiss that would be etched into her memory forever. A kiss that held the promise of a lifetime of wishes. A lifetime of happiness. A lifetime of certainty. A lifetime of love.

(I can be your hero, baby)

I can be your hero.

I can kiss away the pain.

And I will stand by you forever.

You can take my breath away.

You can take my breath away.

I can be your hero.

The song had finished, but Sang and Nathan didn't notice. The kiss deepened, and the desperation to become closer blossomed. Sang gripped Nathan's shoulders, as he moved his hands up towards her hair.

Awakening from their dream, they broke apart, finally aware that the song had finished. "I love you," Nathan whispered as he stroked Sang's cheek gently.

"I love you too," Sang smiled as she reached to touch his hair.

"Would you like to hear another song?" Nathan asked.

"I'd like to hear our song, again," Sang answered with a knowing smile.

Nathan glowed as he reluctantly let go of her hand to find the device in his pocket.

Sang opened the palm of her hand and gazed down at the contents. Plucked from Nathan's hair, she held the tiny, foil confetti that bore one word.
