Chapter 4 [Adora's POV]
I was pacing the floor and racking my brain. I can't believe I was being so impulsive. I was mad at Adam and to spite him I actually made a date with Daniel. How embarrassing, well there's no turning back now. I brushed my curly red hair into a side ponytail and changed into a blouse. By the time I finished getting ready it was 3:23 pm. I left a memo on my door saying where I would be just in case someone needs me. I started walking to Daniel's room, at a steady pace I should get there a little before 3:30. When I got to his room door I couldn't decide if I should go in or not. It had just turned 3:30 and I didn't want to seem to anxious.
While I was debating to myself I heard a voice from down the hall say "Sorry I'm late Adora."
My face turned red as I turned to face Daniel. I can't believe I was debating about an empty room. I said "Oh it's no biggie besides it just became 3:30."
He opened the door and escorted me to a wooden chair that literally could have been from the 1800s.
The antique chair looked like it might break under my weight but Daniel insisted that it was a lot sturdier then it looked.Daniel grabbed his sketchbook and said "Pose anyway you like, but make sure you're comfortable because you'll be there for a while."
Well that was easier said then done. I had no idea how I should pose. I crossed my legs then uncrossed them put my hands on the arms of the chair then in my lap.
I looked at him helplessly and said "I think you should just tell me how to pose, if not we'll be here for hours."
He laughed at me and walked over to the chair. He took my left arm on the arm rest and placed my hand on my cheek. He took my other arm and placed it on my lap to the left. He crossed my left leg over my right and tilted my head downward. He touched my hair and with a swift motion removed my scrunchy. He fluffed out my hair to the point where the back of the chair couldn't be seen.
He stood back to admire his work then asked "Is that okay? Is it comfortable?"
I said in a quiet voice "I'm okay you can start drawing."
He sat in a chair across from me and I could see passion in his eyes as he sketched. I was going to say something but I didn't want to mess him up by talking and he looked too in the zone to hear me anyway. It was completely silent not an awkward silence but one that was calm and well placed. His strokes seemed smooth and precise. He kept on switching pencils and gazing at me then drawing again. I didn't realize what was happening when he put his pencil down and sighed.
He said "Well I've completed my sketch but like you said when we were little a sketch is pretty but the real thing is gorgeous."
He was looking at me and smiling. I straightened up and smiled back saying "Can I see your masterpiece?"
He nodded and stood up from the chair he was sitting at so I could step in front of him. I stared in awe at how lovely the sketch was the detail was impeccable. I could see the shading within each curl and glistening within my eyes. It was so detailed that I could see the curvature of my neck and the creases along my fingers. I was amazed at his talent and I turned to look at him in awe. My mouth was agape and he just looked at me and laughed and grabbed at his side.
I said "Don't laugh at me I didn't know you were such a good artist."
He smiled and said "It's not even that good besides it took me like 3 hours to draw."
I was confused it didn't even feel like 3 hours had passed the time just flew by. I said "Your room has such a calm and peaceful atmosphere that I didn't notice."
He gazed off and smiled. The red numbers of his clock caught my eye and I saw that it was 6:45 pm. Daniel followed my gaze and opened his eyes wide.
He said "Oh my gosh I'm so sorry I didn't realize how late it was and you haven't eaten yet. The dining hall closes at 7 pm so I'll sprint over there and grab us both something to eat. Just hang tight."
I was going to tell him I was fine but he was already out the door and down the hall.
