Chapter 3 [Adora's POV]

I couldn't stop smiling. I was actually happy and it's been such a long time since I've roamed these halls happy. I held the orchids close to me as I hummed the song Daisy bell.

"What's got you all smiley?"

I was so distracted that I didn't notice Darius walk up to me. I said "Nothing I'm just going to my room."

He arched one eyebrow and looked at me doubtfully. I said "What?"

He looked away and headed toward his room door saying "Nothing, nothing. We saved you a piece of cake. Oh and Adam's mad at you by the way."

I sighed. Well that kind of killed my mood. I did leave the party abruptly, but that's no reason for him to be mad. Whatever I'll make it up to him later. I went to my room and sat on my bed, turning on the lamp on my nightstand. On my dresser was a piece of cake and next to it was a tall glass vase that wasn't there before. My guess was Eric put it there for my flowers, it was halfway filled with water. I got up and placed all but one flower in the vase and inhaled deeply the aroma of the flowers. I placed the one I left out within the pages of a book in my room. I placed the book on my nightstand and laid on my bed. I was staring at the ceiling thinking about how impulsive I was today. I smirked, what an unusual thing for me to do. I went blindly to a guy's room just to figure out who he was. Maybe turning 16 really does change a person. I turned off my light and went to sleep with a smile on my face.

I was having this nightmare again, I hadn't had it in ages. It always starts with me and a boy who looks around 2 years old. We're playing at a park in the sandbox. There are four people sitting on a bench they're waving at us and smiling. Everyone is just smiling, until a loud noise comes from nowhere. Me and the boy hug, scared of the loud noise. I look toward the smiling people but their faces begin to disappear one by one. They looked scary without their faces as they began to slump over one another. Me and the boy begin to cry and a monster with a black face walks in front on us with a smoking stick. The monster takes something from the people on the bench and stares at me and the boy. The monster reaches in it's pocket and pulls out some candy and gives it to me and the boy before running off. Our tears don't stop as we clutch each other tightly. The dream always ends with me staring at the red petals that appeared in the sandbox and on our shirts. I aways wake up in a cold sweat after that dream. I thought I out grew this nightmare. When I first told Eric about the dream I was around 3 years old. He said that it would stop happening with time but it hasn't. I'm starting to think this nightmare will never leave me.
I got up and grabbed my stuff. I headed to the showers so I could cool off. I let the water run over my head as I muddled through my thoughts. It scared me, this reoccurring dream. But, the dream makes no sense a monster a smoking stick and flower petals. What did this dream mean? I finished my shower and trudged off to breakfast.

Gabby walked up to me and put her arm around my shoulder. She said "Cool you're wearing the sweater I made, it looks nice on you."

She looked me in the face and she put her hands on both of my shoulders. She said "Are you okay Adora? You look pale."

I nodded that I was fine and brushed her away so I could continue my walk to the dining hall. I guess I wasn't hiding my sadness well but I didn't care much anymore. When I reached the dining hall I saw that it was filled with laughter and smiles that offset my mood. I grabbed a tray of food and sat at a far corner table that had pealing blue paint and wobbly seats.

I was picking at my food when Daniel walked up to the table. He said "Umm hi Adora. Is it okay to sit with you?"

I looked up at him, I had no good reason to turn him away. I said "Fine, I don't mind."

He sat across from me with a stupid smile on his face. He said "I don't know if you have plans today but I was wondering if you would let me draw you later?"

I was about to answer him when a person said "Hmm later isn't good for her."

This came from Adam who came and sat next to me. I glared at him and said "Refresh my memory Adam because I don't remember later being a bad time."

He had a smug look on his face and said "Well aren't you supposed to be hanging out with me today since you did leave your party early to go find the person who sent you the flowers? Oh wait is this the creep who sent you flowers without attending the party?"

Daniel looked down and twiddled his thumbs. I was seething how dare he talk about Daniel like that he doesn't even know him. I mean I don't know him well either but I still wouldn't call him a creep.

"Adam how can you be so rude, who do you think you are? Just because you're mad at me it doesn't mean you can take it out on Daniel. You know what Daniel I'll come by your room at 3:30. Oh and Adam don't ever tell me that I'm going to hangout with you like I'm obligated to. I don't have to if I don't want to." I stormed out of the dining hall and went back to my room.
