"Hey! That's not fair!" A kitten boasted. "Who said it was, Ice?" Then other kitten replied, skipping a stone away from his sister. Ice tried to block him before he reached the wall of her owner's nest, flaying her paws in every direction. Her brother, Patch, skidded the pebble under her and hit the blue outline. "Beat ya!" Patch chided, scraping his tiny claws across the garden grass. Ice growled, open up her tiny pink mouth to show tiny white teeth.
"What are you kitten's doing out here?" Ice heard a voice come from the cat flap. "Nothing, mom!" Patch squealed, while Ice protested "He took the pebble from me!" Their mother, Scruffy, squinted at them playfully, "Well, your father is coming over to see you today. I had a chat with him three days ago at the forest edge." Ice stared in interest, and started to meow a question but Patch was already on his question "You walked that far!? But your so old!" Scruffy did the playful squint again and purred "I'm old? Wait till you see RoachClaw." Turning her head on one side she questioned her dad's name but got no answer.
Instead, Scruffy strict her mew and nudged them through the flap "Look at you kits! Get some food and clean up a bit! I don't want your first talk with RoachClaw to be with muddy fur!" Ice ducked her head and allowed herself to be pushed all the way into the living room, where her owner, Alex, was watching some kind of screen.
Leaning toward the food bowl, she nibbled at the soft, brown pellets. Her brother crouched down at the same one and started munching quickly. Scruffy moved to the kitchen floor, which her food lay in a nice sturdy metal dish, rather than the plastic bowl she and her brother had and shared. Shuddering at the word shared Ice lost her appetite and trotted to the couch, where Alex was starting to doze.
She perched herself on the arm of the sleek sitting area, she started grooming, as well as pausing to try and read what the screen was saying. "AnD bUy ThE kNeW ShOwEr fOr JuSt 99.60 dAlLoR's!" The screen blabbered. What does that mean? Ice thought as she fluffed down her brown and black fur.
Patch screeched with anger as their mother grabbed his scruff to clean him. Giggling, Ice jumped from arm and trotted to them. All the cats stopped doing what they doing and turned to the back door as scrapes sounded outside of the nest. Ice squealed with joy and bounded to the cat flap, nudged through it and went flying out of it when Patch shoved her with a huge push. Flying through the air, Ice cried as she looked at the ground as it neared, "Help!!" A powerful body leaped up and grabbed her scuff and a landed gracefully.
Looking back at her savor, she saw her father.
