Chapter 29 (Niall)

I watch as the maze comes crumbling down around her. I see her stuck against the wall, powerless as everything comes tumbling down, the maze being ignited in flares of orange from the explosions. Another one goes off, this one bigger than the last, shaking the ground of the maze itself. The camera, the only thing allowing  me to see her, falls out of its discrete hiding place in the stone, smashing against the hard ground.

"NO! GET HER OUT OF THERE! HELP HER PLEASE!"

I don't know why I'm saying this seeing as there's no one in the room, but I need to. I need someone to pull her out. I need to have some kind of faith that she's still alive.

I knew the minute the wolves came out that they had made her maze nearly impossible. Silent tears ran down my cheeks as I watched the animals rip into her shoulder and leg, but she kept moving. Even though she was loosing a substantial amount of blood she kept running. The silent tears turned into crys as I watched her go across the acid filled ravine and saw the blood dripping from her hands after the climb. Most people would've passed out from blood loss or just pain at this point but not Sybil.

She just kept running, and for awhile I thought she'd be fine. I thought she'd get to the end, get out and medics would be waiting for her. But no. Instead they made it so she would have to blow it up, and now what once was crys, is uncontrollable sobs, the kind that bring you to your knees and make your body shake, because I know. There's so way that Someone could make it out of that. I saw it. I saw everything explode, saw as the rocks fell down against her head. I watched as blood collected around her beautiful face. Her soft skin torn apart by animals and burnt by acid.

My legs can't support me anymore, the weight of grief too heavy to keep up. I'm kneeling on the floor, a sound between a scream and a cry leaving my lips. My head rests in my hands, lungs gasping for whatever air I can manage to get in. I can't breath, I feel as though my steady flow of tears is drowning me, filling my lungs and pushing away all oxygen.

I watch as the screen lights back up, desperation courses through me as I read the white words.

"Mazes completed"

My heart broke a little bit while writing this. How are you liking the story? Please don't forget to comment and vote:)
