In the Dark

Alycia's POV

I peeked out the window and parked in the driveway was his car. I'd been waiting for him for the past twenty minutes. What was wrong he'd never been this late before? I quickly did my makeup and tied my hair back. My hair was weird it was originally a chocolate brown then I added big blonde streaks all over one night when I got bored. I got red highlights and my long straightened bangs were black. The rest of my hair was curled except my bangs. I looked different from everyone else and I liked it that way. I had hazel eyes and I was tall compared to all the other girls in my class but the guys in our school were huge it was the system. All the girls were short and the guys were super tall, not to mention incredibly hot. I was wearing my black hipsters with chains on and a white T-shirt with a black peace sign. I liked black and white I know they're shades but they were the only colors that worked for me. I grabbed my backpack and headed downstairs. Sitting in the car waiting for me was my friend, Jeremy. Jeremy was the most popular guy in school but I helped him pass and drove him home when he got drunk. We called it being friends but secretly I wished we were more than that.

Jeremy was irresistibly hot with that messy ash blonde hair and soul filled emerald eyes. I'd never tell him about my crush though I was a geek and he was a popular. It didn't help that he had tons of girlfriends. "Happy Birthday", I said climbing in.

"Thanks", he said starting the car and backed out of my long driveway. That's right my parents are rich got a problem with that. "You going to your party tonight", I asked texting Melanie, my best friend. "I don't know", he said seriously. "Isn't it a tradition to go to your own party", I asked puzzled. "Not my tradition", he snapped. "Okay then", I said closing my phone and pulling out my diary.

Dear Diary,

All guys are bipolar! I mean honestly one day they're nice enough and the next they're bat shit crazy. I don't like cheering people up it makes me feel small myself. I wonder if the math test today will be hard. How old do you to be before you can love the country for good? I think it was eighteen but I'll have to look it up at school. I'll be packed in two seconds if I'm allowed to go on the Italy exchange trip. I hate this place it's that whole stupid opposites attract thing short girl and tall guys taking advantage of them. I swear six girls have already gotten pregnant by 'accident'. How do you accidentally do that honestly? I wish I could be in Italy now there's way more collection for everything. There's all the best food, great shopping, a great school system and not to mention cute Italian boys. Living here in Haddington sucks the big one? I wonder what the big one is. Oh shit we're at the school time to see the smurfs and giants yay. Note the sarcasm!

Aly

I dated it and even put the time down then closed it and gathered my stuff. "See you later", he said. "Yeah sure", I said grabbing my stuff then headed inside. He was being such an ass today what was wrong with him. I mean he was never exactly sweet or kind but usually he at least made an effort to act different than his friends. I let it go for now and went over to our table. "Hey Aly", Snow said. "Hey Snow what's the weather like", I asked sitting down. "Ha ha still funny it's snowing I know irony lol whatever", she said sarcastically. "Relax Snow", Mel said sitting up on the table. "I hate my name", Beverly sighed. "Come on Bevy it could be worse and have a unisex name like Terry", Terry said joining us.

"Mr. Tiny", I said cheerily. "Hey Lava what's up?" he smiled. Let me explain Terry is one of the shortest boys in school and he's a prankster/geek. I'd read the Darren Shan Saga and named him that. He called me Lava because I was quite a pyro. I loved my geek friends we were tight. I couldn't imagine life any other way. The bell rang and we headed to class. "Hi losers with a capital L", Tanya, one of Jeremy's girls said as we walked into class. "Hi Godzilla", Terry said. Her mouth dropped and I tried my hardest not to laugh. His other girlfriends showed up soon afterwards. There was Pollyanna head cheerleader, Wilma the school whore, Jaden head of the prom committee, Tanya of course class president and my worst nightmare Katy my twin sister. We weren't close so that's why I never mentioned her before. I hated her guts actually she was a total slut and used men. I didn't understand that it made no sense to me that they were falling for her when they knew what she was. Anyways we sat in our regular seats and started to talk about this period's math test. "I hate decimals", Snow said pushing her pencil up her desk over and over again. "I can't stand fractions but ratios are the worst", Mel said. "Agreed", we all said. "So we just need to pass this test and honor roll here we come", I said with a smile. "Alright class we're postponing the test until tomorrow but today we're going to answer questions and have fun", the teacher announced.

"What kind of fun?", Katy asked biting the end of her pencil. " The kind of fun that blondes have difficulties understanding", Mel said slowly.

Jeremy's POV

I hated today I didn't want to find my mate I only had a matter of hours of freedom then I was stuck with one girl for the rest of my life yay. Note the sarcasm. I was in a bad mood so I sat with Katy and started making out with her. I knew Katy's reputation but that was part of her charm. She was nothing like Alycia, Alycia was the geek I gave rides to and in return she did my homework and was my emergency contact. I didn't really count her for anything she had her uses but I preferred Katy. I looked over at Alycia and her group they were dorks nothing more. I knew each of them Terry was gay came out of the closet two years ago, Beverly was a complete germa phobia, Snow was heavily religious and Melanie was just plain weird. The teacher called on me to answer a decimals question. I wasn't in the mood so I replied,

"why don't you ask Geeks Anonymous?" " You say what?", Snow said angrily. " Jesus hates you", Katy said with a smirk.

" What have you screwed him too", Melanie said. " Whatever freak", Duncan laughed. " Go screw yourself", Beverly said seriously. " Why don't I screw you", Willis said smartly. " Get a life", Terry said. " Go back into the closet you tool", I snarled. Suddenly there was a huge hole in the white board. " Miss. Overt go to the office", the teacher said shocked. " Gladly Mr. Larose", a familiar voice said and I looked up to see Alycia leaving the room. She did something even more shocking just before she disappeared she fingered all of us. " Holy shit", was all my group could say. " Why would she do that", Terry whispered.

" I can't believe she risked the Italy trip because of him", Snow said. Apparently no one had seen this coming even Katy, her twin was shocked beyond belief. " Oh she is so going to be grounded", she said after awhile. " Alright class back to the lesson now though her actions may have been over the top if I hear anymore of that language you're all suspended", the teacher said sternly. " Think she'll still do our homework", Duncan whispered.

" Yeah she'll get over it soon enough", I said unworried. " Good because she's the only girl I know who has straight A's in every subject", Willis said panicked. " Just give her until lunch she'll be fine", I said brushing it off. " I've never seen someone break the white board with a book before", Katy said thoughtfully. " How could she even throw it that far", Jaden said puzzled. " I didn't even know she knew what fingering someone meant", Katy said perplexed. " Maybe she's finally turning into a girl", Duncan said.

" Oh my god", Snow said standing up, " she got it". " She's on the list", the others said. " We made it too score one for Geeks Anonymous", Terry said cheerfully. They must be speaking English but I didn't understand a word of it. " This coming weekend right after the camp out Aly's thrilled about it no homework, hot guys and all the spaghetti you could ask for", Mel said. No homework what the hell. " Oh congratulations kids you made the short list", the teacher said proudly. " Sir we need to go find Aly we're finished the questions can we go", Snow asked, " Jesus loves me right now". They all basically skipped out the door taking their stuff with them. " Sir what list?", I asked. " Traveling World Club is going on a worldwide trip and the ' Geeks Anonymous' are going on it", he said coolly. " Where do they go Africa and India", Katy snorted. " I believe England, France, Italy, Greece, Switzerland, China, Japan, Australia and then Disneyland", the teacher said casually. Jaws dropped including mine. Alycia was going around the world wait who was going to do my homework. My mood if possible became darker still I needed Alycia she was the only reason I was passing she had to stay.
