In the Dark Chapter 7

I woke in the morning to the door opening. " Donuts", someone said in the kitchen. " Donuts", some said clapping. I rubbed my eyes and went into the kitchen to find Melanie, Snow, Alycia, Beverly and Terry eating donuts and drinking smoothies. " Morning", I said politely. " Morning you look like shit", Aly said sipping her smoothie. " Your couch is sort of a pillow mess", I shrugged. " Want a donut and a smoothie", Snow asked. I nodded and came over and grabbed one of each while they pigged out on the rest of the donuts. I ate another one for good measure and listened to them chat.

" Hi losers hi handsome", Katy said walking in wearing pink short shorts and a gray cropped top. " Do you want a donut", I asked politely. " No thanks I have breakfast", she smiled. " Since when does liquid French toast count as a meal", Aly asked. " Aly be quiet grownups are talking", she snapped. She snorted and they all started laughing as they finished off the last of the donuts. I reached in to grab two more when I slightly a touch then a spark. I looked up to see Aly looking at her hand puzzled. " You want it", I asked curiously. " Yes please", she said taking the donut and started to eat it.

" Well", Terry said standing up. " We best get going", Beverly said joining him. " Subtle", Aly said rolling her eyes. They grabbed their bags and left before I could say anything. I waited as Katy drank her breakfast trying to work up the courage to tell her the truth.

" Katelyn", I said once she was done.

" Yes Jamie", she said sweetly. " I found my mate", I said seriously. " Were we right?", she asked excitedly, " are we mates?" " No", I said stepping away from her. " Who is it then?", she demanded. " It's...", I said thinking back to Aly's diary. Katy would send me to a nunnery if she knew her boyfriend was my mate and I don't want to pray all the time, she'd wrote during her trip.

" Someone you know", I said seriously, " the point is I have to break up with you". " What but we're perfect for each other the fates are wrong", she said furiously. " I don't think they are", I said shaking my head. " She's not me though whoever she is", she said grabbing my arm. " I'm sorry Katelyn", I said heading for the door, " but it just isn't going to work". " You can't break up with me", she said as I went outside and climbed into my car, " I do break ups not the guys". " Bye", I said then left. " No", she screamed. I got to the school a few minutes later. Now I had to concentrate on Aly. I got to school and saw her chatting with her friends under a tree. I knew better than to approach her right now so I just went straight inside. I changed my relationship status on the way in and with that the Katy chapter of my life was done.

Aly's POV

I kept tracing where his hand touched mine as we waited outside for the bell to ring. We were talking about the dressing code when all our iPod alarms went off. " That's a first I didn't know he had that status available", Snow said reading the little caption.

" What?", I said pulling mine out and reading it. Jeremy Carlyle is now single. WHAT?! I saw Katy walking inside looking so angry that she looked poisonous. " Well that's...interesting", Mr. Tiny said watching her slam the main door so hard the glass broke. We all started laughing secretly tonight I was definitely staying at Snow's house. " Yes you can stay at my house tonight", Snow said. Shit did I say that out loud. " Thanks everyone else should hide under their covers and we all need to pray", I said with a nod. " Oh god almighty please don't let Katy saw off my hiney", Terry prayed out loud. We all started laughing and stayed laughing all the way to class. We meet up with Mel's boyfriend, Terry's boyfriend and Bevy's boyfriend and headed to class. I sat in my regular spot and I saw Damon sitting with his new mate and her friends. If only my mate was like him he at least took time to get to know me before we got serious. I was going to start working as a mechanic shop to learn more about cars. " Alycia", Jeremy said sitting down in the desk next to mine. He didn't say anything else he didn't have to because just then Katy came storming in. " YOU CAN'T BREAK UP WITH ME", she yelled. " Katy get a grip", my whole group replied. " Shut up and mind your own business", she snarled. " Would anyone in this room mind if I punched her lights out", I asked curiously. " Too much paperwork", the teacher said shaking his head.

" That's true", I sighed then went back to talking with my friends. " HOW COULD YOU LEAVE ME?", she continued, " after two years of dating". " Katy we were never serious just stick to your other boyfriends", he said seriously. " But Jerry I want you babe", she said pushing me out of my chair.

" Katelyn it's over long over it's in the past", he snapped. " Is there someone else one of those other girls are you serious about someone", she demanded.

" Don't be ridiculous", he said brushing it off. " Katelyn please give Alycia her desk back before she throws another book into the front board", one of the pack boys said nastily. I took a deep breath stood up with my book and slammed the heavy textbook down on his head. " I know I'm going to the office", I said putting his book back on the table then walked out. I was beginning to crave violence it meant I won. I got a warning then I had to go to the counseling office and got a long counseling session about controlling my feelings. When the bell rang I left and went up to the library. Suddenly my phone vibrated which meant I had a new text. " Alycia can we talk after school", the person asked. " Why?", I texted back. " Just to talk", he replied.

" Fine after school behind the field house alone", I wrote after a moment of thought. The rest of the day passed in a blur Katy yelled at everyone that talked to her and I stayed with my friends as an observer. After school I went to the field house knowing full well who was waiting for me. Jeremy. I had no idea why he wanted to talk but it was probably about first period probably warning me never to hurt his pack again. I'd never admit it out loud but when I was close to him my heart started racing. " Your violent tendencies are still around", I heard him say. " Only around idiots and smart mouths", I said crossing my arms.

" Which do I qualify as?", he asked casually. " Undecided", I said honestly.

" Look Aly I didn't mean to be an ass", he said stepping out of the shadows.

" It's not like I expected things to change", I shrugged. " I know last night was bad and the day before for the most part but Aly you're still my mate", he said seriously. " So this isn't about me beating up your pack members", I said confused. " No", he said shaking his head. " Alright now I'm confused", I said puzzled. " Alycia", he said walking right up to me. " Jeremy you know why I can't", I said shaking my head as I looked into his eyes.

" Things can change you have, all your friends, your boyfriend, Katy why is it so impossible to believe I can too", he said seriously. " Because all I've ever seem you do is hurt people", I said sadly. " I always thought being the strongest and hardest was the best way to be if you're an Alpha", he said touching my cheek. " You're an idiot", I laughed. " I know", he replied. " So what would changing entail", I asked unsure. " No more hiding, no more running and no more fighting", he said smoothly. " Just one more question", I asked uncertainly. " What?", he asked surprised.
