have you ever been onstage
while an orchestra was
rehearsing?

let me tell you about it, then:
it's the most magical thing
ever.

you're sitting there, right in the middle
of it all. right where the magic
is happening.

the conductor raises his arms.
he might give a small smile, or just a wink;
he'll look at the concertmaster, then -

then he'll wave his arms, and it all starts.
the first note is crucial - it has to be
perfect. and it usually is.

one the music starts i wish it would never stop.
i wish it could keep spinning, spinning -
pulling you in then pushing you away -
taunting, teasing -
but never letting go, always keeping you
within its grasp.
drowning you
even as you close your eyes and smile
and welcome the
sensuous suffocation.
