Rhapsody

//11: fire.

i wake up in a cocoon of blankets and a warm body,
next to a roaring fire, and i almost go back to sleep.

then i open my eyes and see
youyouyouyouyouyouyouy
                                                  him
his eyes stare into mine. and neither of us can speak.

when i wake up again the next morning i think it was all a dream,
                                       but how did i get from my beach to my bed?

for the whole day i move about blindly, and i am confused,
                                                                            and i am dazed,
and then i hear the sound of an engine making its way up the path outside my door.

i drop my things and run outside and he is jumping out of
his red pickup truck
because he had asked
                                          will you wait for me?
and i had said
                           {   yes.  }

he hugs me tightly and i hug him back tightly and i cry and he cries
and he says, "i'm sorry"
and i say, "i'm sorry, too"
                                             and he says "are you alright?"
                                             and i say, "i'm okay now."

and he kisses me and i kiss him and we are happy.

and there is a fire burning in my heart.
