Here's your second imagine WitchDoctor21! I didn't know which exact battle to use, so I picked the one at the end of City of Lost Souls. I hope you like it! ❤️

Abby was surrounded by Endarkened. She was fighting at the Seventh Sacred Sight alongside other shadowhunters and downworlders. She cut down Endarkened warriors feeling the adrenaline rush of the fight. She was fast, powerful, and skilled. She felt so alive.

Then she stopped dead. Something had happened. It felt like someone had reached into her and torn out her soul. It felt like like her heart had been crushed from the inside. The feeling was worse than death, worse than any kind of physical pain. She made a soft noise of pure clean cut sorrow.

"Em..." she whispered.

Abby whipped around. She was trying to see... It couldn't be... It wasn't possible.... Then she saw her.

Emily. Her parabatai. Dead. Blood stained the front of her gear. Her body lay in a crumpled pile on the ground. Emily's eyes were blank and empty.

"No..." Abby whispered. "No, no, no!"

She rushed to her parabatai's side. "No... Emily don't be dead... Please don't be dead."

Abby shook her. Her breath came out in gasps. "Em... Wake up please. Emily, come back!"

Tears rolled down Abby's face. She heard people shouting her name, but it sounded as if they were in a whole other world. It was only her. Only her and her best friend.

Tears clouded her vision. Abby closed Emily's eyelids, weeping with the sadness of someone who had lost almost everything. Because she had lost her best friend, her other half, she had lost her parabatai.

*********************

It had been almost a month since Emily had died, and Abby had become a ghost. She stayed in the confines of her room in the Institute. Barely a glimpse of her was seen, and it only got worse over time.

In the beginning she'd come out to get food or water before disappearing again, but soon she stopped coming out all together. Others brought her in food which she barely touched. Abby was suffering, and she wasn't getting better.

Few people had come to see her. Tried to talk to her. Clary, Isabelle, and even Maryse had attempted to console her. Abby was unresponsive. Most of the time she wouldn't even acknowledge their presence, and the few times they did she'd only say a few pitiful phrases like, "Leave me alone." and "Get out."

Alec hated to see Abby like this. Over the years of knowing her he had developed affection for her, so seeing her in this much pain was torture to him.

Jace was the only one Alec ever told about his feelings for Abby. Jace was probably the only one he trusted not to tell her.

"You should try talking to her," Jace told Alec.

"Me?" Alec said with surprise.

"Alec, you hate seeing her like this," he pointed out. "Who knows? Maybe she'll listen to you, and even if she doesn't you'll have tried. That's something."

Alec sighed. Jace was right. He stood up and went towards Abby's room.

He knocked at the door. No response. He tried the handle, and was surprised to find it unlocked. He care fully opened the door.

"Abby?" He whispered.

The light from the hall was the only thing illuminating the otherwise pitch black room. Abby sat on her bed. In her hands there was a picture. A picture of her and Emily. They were laughing and smiling. They looked so peaceful... so happy. They had no idea... Silent tears ran down Abby's face.

Alec cautiously closed the door and sat next to Abby. They say in silence for a moment before, to Alec's surprise, Abby spoke.

"I keep hoping it was a dream," she whispered, her voice raw with tears. "That I'd wake up and she'd be here."

Alec hesitantly put an arm around her. "I can't imagine what it felt like," he said.

"I don't know how much longer I can go without her," Abby whispered in a voice filled with heartbreak.

"Abby, you can't give up. You need to keep fighting," Alec pleaded.

"Why?!" She exclaimed. "What's the point anymore?"

"Because..." Alec's voice caught. "I need you."

Abby turned to him. "What?"

"I need you, Abby," he said softly. "I care about you... I-I love you."

Abby stared at him for a moment. Then, she leaned in and kissed him softly. Alec gasped in surprise, then slowly kissed her back. They broke apart, and Abby smiled for the first time in ages.

"I love you too, Alec."
