I went along in class and learned the first 7 letters of the cursive alphabet before the teacher dismissed us for recess. I ran to the swings. Tonya had to stay after to talk about something so I said I would meet her at the swings. She called dibs on the blue one so I sat on the red one. Alone. Everyone else was on the slides or monkey bars, I started swinging before the little boy I had seen earlier approached me with bright red cheeks.

"Hi." He said looking at he gravel.

"Hello, my name is Alyssa." I said.

His hands were behind his back. He moved over to the swing beside me and sat down. He moved his arm to show the prettiest dandilion I had ever seen. It was really big and bright yellow. I was shocked.

"Wow." I said.

"It-it's for you." He said.

He handed me the flower and I looked down at it. I felt the heat in my cheeks and I closed my eyes in embarrassment. As soon as I did, the little boy kissed me on the cheek. I shot my eyes open.

"My name is Alexander, but you can call me Alex." He said.

He ran away and went inside. The teacher called us to line up for lunch.

My teacher saw the flower I had and smiled.

"Here, lets tuck this cute little buddy right there." She said and put the flower behind my ear.

Ever since then, Alex has given me  a flower of some kind every year in school.

For third grade, he gave me a daisy.

In fourth grade, he gave me a tulip.

In fifth grade, he gave me a sunflower. And I had an allergic reaction to them. He felt bad but I told him it was okay.

On the last day of sixth grade, Alex gave me a pink carnation with a note.
It read: Will you go out with me? I want to go through this high school life with you.

I smiled and looked at Alex. He waved from his seat on the bus as I walked to my house.
