All I could hear was noise. The loud talking, crying, and yelling all turned into soft murmurs that crept through my body. It felt like that shiver you get when your body is cold and you can feel the goose bumps, raising every hair on skin. Hard seat... shaking legs..... white room, The waiting room. Here I sat, in the waiting room at Howard University Hospital for 2 hours now. I was anxious, nervous, scared all in one. I needed information, some type of relief.
"Excuse me, Miss" I said to the lady staring into her computer.
She continued the race that her fingers took, as each one seemed to click the keyboard at 123 clicks per second.
"Miss !" I added, now a little annoyed.
She waved her hand, gesturing me to go away.
"LISTEN, If I DON'T SEE A DAMN DOCTOR SOON. I WILL PERSONALLY BREAK EVERY FINGER YOU HAVE TYPED WITH !"
She didn't have to say a word because her face showed it all. She knew I meant business and she got right up and walked into the back. Moments later, she arrived back to the front deck with an actual doctor. I was familiar with the face since, I did work at the hospital over the summer.
The doctor walked towards me with a clipboard in his hand.
" Ahhhh, William ... How are you?" he said walking towards me with his arms opened as if he wanted to embrace me with a hug.
"Dr. Telford." I said, accepting his hug.
It was weird but I needed that hug more than ever at that point. After a moment of feeling his body heat starting to mix with mine. I broke the hug and stared him in the face.
"How is he?"
"You may want to sit down, William." He replied
We walked to the chairs, still in the waiting room, but away from everyone else.
"He's alive. But he isnt well. "
It was like a TON of bricks was being lifted off of my shoulders. He was alive. He was ALIVE. Nothing mattered more to me at that moment.
"I can see the relief in your face, but even though he is alive. Its gonna take him some time before he can do anything physically. The bullet went in deep and tore a lot of tissue in his torso area. So basically any bending or movement he does will be painful until the area heals." Dr. Telford explained too me.
He continued to talk but at this point, I began to zone him out. I had to see him, my thoughts wandered around. What was I gonna say to him? Would he want to talk to me? Is he –

"Five, Six, Seven, Eight! Right, Left, Bend Down, and Up."
"Nooo , Nooo, Nooo, Nooo, No !" Dr. Holmes said waving her hands, telling us all to stop dancing.
" William, What are you doing? You're not getting any of the moves; it's like your not even here. What's Up?" She added.
"Im sooorry." I replied embarrassed.
Everyone was now looking at me, probably mad because we had to start the dance all over. But who cares....okay, I was stuck in my daydream but everyone has their day every once in a while.
"Yeah, Bestfriend get your self together." Jairus said nudging my shoulder.
"Hee Hee" I sarcastically laughed back at him.
After another run of the dance routine, Holmes, ended rehearsal. I got my got stuff and began heading for the door to exit the school.
As I reached for the door, I heard someone behind me calling out a name. It wasn't my name, so I continue with what I was doing. Eventually, the noise became louder and I turned around to see Robert.
