Two weeks later ......
"Girl, What happened?" She said putting her face close to her camera, making it appear as if she was popping out of my computer screen.
"Phoenix, BACK UP! Why you so close to the damn camera?" I asked her.
"I want to make sure I get every detail. Of the tea you about to spill!"
"There is no tea, Phoenix, We just had a cute date that's all." I told her.
Ever since, Jairus asked me out a couple of weeks ago, we have been getting pretty serious. We finally had our alone time on our many dates and the last one was just perfect.
"So I had dinner at his house." I confessed to Phoenix.
"He introduced you to his parents.... Aww thats so cute." She exaggerated.
"Yeah yeah!" I responded rolling my eyes.
"Girl. Don't roll your eyes, you pressed as fuck. So don't even fake."
She was right, I was pressed that he introduced me to his parents. But I tried my best not to show it.
"So, what did they think of you?" She added.
"It went really well, his dad was nice of course, his mom seemed hesitant at first but she chilled during the process." I explained.
"You think that's because of how you are?" Phoenix asked.
"How I am?"
"You know ... you two being from two different sides of the spectrum?"
Until she mentioned it. I didn't even notice how much truth was in that statement. Here I am, Kendra from ghetto ass Capitol Heights, dating Jairus from high saditty, Clinton Maryland.
My dad complained the whole way there as he was driving me to Jairus's house but I think he was in shock from looking at the huge houses in his neighborhood. Cause once he got in the area, he was quiet as a mouse. We pulled up and as any gentleman should, Jairus came to the car and met my dad. I think my dad relaxed once he found out I wasn't dating any nigga from the hood. He loved that Jairus was from the suburbs. I must admit, I did too.
"Dont worry, she likes me!" I told Phoenix, snapping out of my flashback.
"Lemme tell you what happ-"
The sound of another facetime call interrupted Phoenix rambling. Emojis popped up on the screen, indicating that Jairus was calling.
"I GOTS TO GO JAIRUS IS CALLING!" I eagerly stated.
"Okay boo, call me later." Phoenix responded, ending the call.
I answered the call and as it connected I fixed my hair and rubbed my lips together making sure my lipstick was evenly --
"Who you getting cute for?" Jairus said startling me from the inside.
"My babes." I flirted back.
"Oh, Really ..."
"Yes really."
She Jairus was definitely a suburban boy and waaaay different from the type of niggas, I was used to but I liked that about him. He was charming, educated, not from a hood, and a gentleman.
"What yall talking about in here?" I heard a voice say from Jairus' side of the facetime.
"Get OUT Jay!" Jairus said trying to keep his older brother out of his room.
I just sat on my side of the call and smiled, trying to stay as cute as possible.
"Who you talking to my sister Ken?" Jay say putting his face in the camera.
