The sun shone brightly thought my window and into my eyes slowly awakening me for the day. I rolled over to look at my clock, it was only 7 damn it Saturday I was going to sleep in. grumbling I pulled off my sheets and walked over to my closest, to get clothes for the day. I picked out a light blue checkered shirts and a pair of faded blue jeans. I slid into my clothes and walked down the hall the kitchen.
Once I made it to the kitchen I made some toast and had some juice to go with it. I cleaned up my dishes and went to look for Lilith. I had to find answers I don’t understand why, why? Why was it so hard to say I just died by so and so. It’s not that hard, and I really need to know if im going to be able to help her before the ghost hunter come after her. It is also a part of my job to stop the ghost hunter from killing my ghost.
I grabbed my bag on the way out the door. I needed to find Lilith and fast. I looked for Lilith and couldn’t find her anywhere. I was about to give up hope when suddenly I was a wisp of short red hair. I ran, ran to catch up. It was her I had only found her. I walked beside her for a little while until I knew we were out of ear shot. Before I had a chance to open my month Lilith looked at me and smiled, she had never smiled at me before. It felt kind of creepy but in a good way.
“guess what” she asks
“what is it Lilith I don’t know” I respond
“I found the best way to kill someone” she said with a grin.
Excellent the one time she has ever smiles it’s because she had found a way to kill someone. This was going to be harder than I thought. I must find a way to learn about. She is different to the other ghosts I have worked with. They wanted my help, but not this time she didn’t seem to want my help. I knew, she knew if she didn’t get better soon the ghost hunter would come after her.
“what’s the best way to kill someone” I asked merely out of curiosity
“well” she began “firstly you chose your victim, then you take them to a dark place and tie them to a pole so you can see them but they can’t see you and then they get really spooked out and you take them for a ride to the old barn where no one goes and push them into them hay. Then when they least expect it jump out with a knife a plunge it into their heart and then carry them to a lake and dispose of the body and no one will ever no. perfect right” Lilith explained.
“Sounds perfect to me” I say.
We walked around for a bit and got talking. I finally getting her to open up she told me a bit about her family and her friends, but she made sure she didn’t share too much information but it was a start. I invited her to come and have lunch with me so I could see if I could get her to open up a little more. We passed by a fish and chip shop and ordered some chips so eat on our way home.
I managed to get her to tell me about what she used to do. She told me that’s she would sit in the library for hours reading crime books and books about solving murder. That totally explains her wanting to kill people. Then I realised maybe she hadn’t ever killed anyone she only ever wrote about it as if it was still a part of her. There it was again everything was leading back to her begin human.
It was so weird I was desperate to find out what was up with this ghost. I needed to find out and fast there are so many things I could learn from Lilith that could help me a better helper for the ghost that chose me after Lilith. I heard Lilith calling my name Kayla her voice sung like a sweet angel. That’s funny I never thought she had the voice of and angel but I went over to her and we continued to walk home.
When we got Home, we went into the kitchen and made some sandwiches. We sat down at the table and we started to talk. I decided that the best way to get her to open up was to tell her things about me. I was about to tell her my love for art when I heard knocking at the door. I told Lilith id be back soon and I opened the front door.
There were two police officers standing there, I was a little confused at why they were here. That when they informed that my parents had died in a car accident. Since I didn’t have any other family they told me I would be put in the foster system. I was to go and pack a few bags of my things and they would take me away.
I walked down the hall and into my room. I pulled out my suitcase and started packing. And then got out my small bag and walked into my parent’s room. Now I knew they were gone and I had no one. I didn’t even have a best friend because I was too busy taking care of ghosts. I packed away some of my dad’s shirts and mums dresses that I will grow into and some of their other things and walked back down stairs.
I got into the back of the police car wondering if my parents would remember now they have left me. Sure I didn’t see them very often but they could stay home in the holidays just to see how I saw going and what school was like. Now I had no one. No one to stay with me.
We pulled up outside a children’s orphanage and the police told me that I would be fine and if anything happened to contact them. I walked into the large room and was greeted by a rather young looking lady who told me I was one of thirty kids staying here, and I would be staying with two girls my age. They welcomed me and helped me take my stuff into the room.
This was going to make things harder helping a ghost at and orphanage. People would think I’m insane, maybe I was. It was still my job and I will continue to finish it.
