I awoke and had started to scream I was in a strange room that I had never seen before. Suddenly two girls appeared and look down on me, they looked worried. Then it all came flowing back in, car crash, all alone, trying to help Lilith, I was at an orphanage. The worried looking girls were Jessie and Kirsty.  My roommates. They told me to get dressed so we could all go to breakfast and then go to school. I dressed in one of my mums blue shirts and slipped on a pair of jeans. We headed down to the diner which was only just around the corner.  We collected our bacon and eggs and sat down at our table.

We were joined by a few other girls Emma, Milly and Grace. They seemed pretty nice, but, I wasn’t really with moment and was thinking about what Lilith might have done after she left. I hope she was able to find somewhere to sleep.

‘Kayla? A voice rang ‘are you alright?

Snapping back into reality I look up and replied

‘Yes. Fine, I was just thinking’

‘Well okay then, come on we have to get going or we will be late for class’

We all got up and took our plates into the kitchen and walk to class together. Jessie, Kirsty, Emma, Milly and Grace were in my classes which I was thankful for, I would hate not to know anyone.

We made it to class and I sat on the end of a row next to Milly. The classes we will have are English, Science, SOSE and then Maths. Then I was going to meet Lilith and talk to her about what’s bothering her, after all the ghost hunter is coming tomorrow.

I love school and I am good at it, so I guess I used to be known as the ‘class nerd’. I didn’t mind thought because at least it will get me somewhere in life if I’m not suck looking after ghosts for the rest of my life. If that does happen make I can lead a double life, one side of me is the real me with a job like every other normal person and the other side being my ghost helper side. Maybe I should just wait and see what happens.

After English and science we had a lunch break where we were able to go and eat with the other children and return in 45 minutes to finish the last to classes. I was written down the rest of the homework in my notebook while the rest of the class filed out. Yes we do get homework here but it’s not very much since we only have 3 school days in a week so all the children get some source of education. The girls were waiting for me outside, nice of them.

“What took you so long”? Kirsty questioned

“I was just writing down the homework” I answer.

“That’s a bit silly, no one dose their homework” Kirsty stated

“Okay” Grace piped in “Let’s go and get some lunch shall we”

The 6 of us all walked to the dining hall and took out seats at our regular. Just like school everyone has their own table or eating stop. For lunch we had chicken wraps. Everyone was talking while I was stuck in thought when my thoughts were interrupted by Milly.

“Do like reading”? She asked

“More than anything” I reply

“What types of books do you like”?

“All kinds, mostly chapter books and series.”

“Have you read the fruits basket series? It’s an anime.

“I think I have heard of it but I don’t recall ever reading it”

“It’s my favourite series, and I own all the books. I can lend you them if you want to see if you like them”

“thanks, that would be great. I can show you my book collection later of you like.

“That would be great, thanks.”

We looked at the clock and saw that it had been 40 minutes of our lunch break so we started to head back to class. We had our last to classes SOSE and Maths. Our teacher arrived shortly after us and unlocked the door so we could go in. we took the seats that we were in before lunch. I was enjoying SOSE because we were learn about ancient Greece it was really intrigued that I didn’t realise how fast the lesson had gone when the teacher told us to get out our maths stuff.

Maths wasn’t as interesting but, since I was good at maths I whizzed through everything and handed in my work and the teacher told me I could leave early. I walked passed my friends and told them I would catch up with the later. I walked back to my room and had a quick shower, then headed off the find Lilith.

I walked out the front doors and hoped that Lilith would be in the abandoned park that lay behind the orphanage because that is where I told her to meet me. After a few minutes of waiting Lilith finally arrived

“Ready” I asked

“as I’ll ever be” Lilith said.
