Hearing The Heartbeat (Sequel to 'Broken Perfection')

After picking up Yui from school, Homare had dropped off his little sister by Chii and Yasuto's home, as the couple had to take care of Chii's 3 year old niece, Yui wanting to help out. 

The doctor returns to the manor and falls onto the couch in the living room, relishing the silence in the usually bustling home. Although it was only the three of them, you'd be surprised at how much noise Katsumi makes doing everyday tasks.

Letting his head loll off to one side, Homare drops his eyes closed and falls asleep.

The raven haired male was soon awakened by some loud noises, the door slamming open and shut. Katsumi had come home, Yui in tow after the doctor had picked up the high school student from her friend's house.

"Midorikawa! Where are you? Is dinner cooked yet?" Shit. It was already 8:30, and the three usually ate by 8:00. But after his rather long nap from 5:00 earlier, he had completely forgotten to prepare their meal.

"Dammit... Forgot..." He muttered as Katsumi walked up to him, watching him ruffle his hair.

"Fell asleep, huh?" She chuckled, surprisingly cool about everything. "Don't matter, Yui wanted pizza tonight anyway." She fishes her phone from her pocket and contacts the pizza store, ordering two large pizzas for tonight's meal and maybe tomorrow's.

"Anyway," she started, placing her phone away and approaching the stairs. "Change into some different clothes. You're not working a shift soon, are you?"

Homare nods and follows her up the stairs, but into his own room as Katsumi trailed to her own. The doctors soon come out in their own home clothes as the door rings. They hear Yui scurrying away and Katsumi jogs downstairs, money in hand as she throws the door open.

"Um, two large pizzas for... Tsukino and Midorikawa, correct?" The delivery man confirms, though the excited smile on his face showed he knew about the prestigious name 'Tsukino'. "Yes, thank you." Katsumi nods and takes the boxes, handing them to Homare, who stood behind her.

Handing the man the money and a small tip, Katsumi closes the door after taking a picture with the said man, who told her that his daughter was such an admirer. Sighing, Katsumi headed to the living room, where Yui and Homare were set up, Yui flicking through different horror movies as Homare cut the pizza.

Fixing her sweatshirt, Katsumi sat on the edge of the sofa, leaning back as she crossed her legs atop the cushions. Grabbing a slice of the hot pizza, she leaned back as the movie began. The lights dimmed and the volume turned up, all three's eyes were focused on the movie. But Homare's mind was focused on something else.

"So where's Yui?" Nagisa asked Katsumi quietly as the group strolled through the plains, heading towards the tree where the picnic was set by Naka and Kanji. 

"She's on a class trip. Remember the Ebisu and Daikanyama trip?" Katsumi chuckles, thinking back on their high school days together as a group. She still remembered it so vividly. 

"Really? The same trip? And it's still run jointly?" Taketo asked, joining the conversation. Today was a rare day for the group. Though they always tried to make time to hang out, their jobs and careers made it difficult. Taking into account the fact that Yasuto was a big league baseball player, Kanji being a celeb singer along with Nagisa and Taketo's constant out of trip flights as a pilot. 

And having Homare and Katsumi being top doctors and surgeons at the hospital made their schedules tight and almost impossible to escape. 

"Yep," Katsumi nods, "And from what I heard, Yui's the president of student council at the place. I'm proud of her. Though, I thought it would've been maybe my daughter or son to become the next council president at their school." she chuckled.
