A lone cricket chirped in the distance. Nicole walked alone, guided by only flickering street lamps. A stray pebble met her shoe, and she kicked it a good 4 feet away.

"At least I kept Mrs. Green's promise," Nicole muttered to herself. "I just need to know how he did it,"

The stars twinkled in a blanket of indigo, winking down at the earth every so often. Temperamental street lamps buzzed between on and off, giving the illusion of a strobe light. Pounding bass could be heard from the community center, the party had restarted since they had left. Everyone woke up and had decided that everything was completely normal, so they decided to resume the dance. They weren't going to let some idiot ruin one of the biggest parties of the summer.

A ring came from Nicole's purse. She shoved her hand in, miscellaneous items jingling around. She found her phone and the caller ID read: Lucy Chang.

"Hello?" Nicole asked.

"Hi Nicole," Lucy replied.

"What's up? Shouldn't you be asleep?" Nicole inquired.

"Yeah, I should, but I just got a call from the police station saying that we have to report there tomorrow for Mr. Walker's interrogation. I don't exactly know how we're going to pry information out of him, but we have to figure it out some how," Lucy explained.

"I'm sure that we'll figure something out. There has to be some sort of flaw in his character. After all, he did get caught by a couple of high school girls. Keep in mind, we do have the brains to inflate his ego to the point of destruction. We solved a case that police couldn't figure out! I'm sure that we can do this," Nicole reassured.

"I'm sure you're right Nicole, you usually are," Lucy laughed.

Nicole smiled on the other end of the phone. "This is one of the few times that I am right,"

"Says the one who has a 100 average in Algebra II Honors," Lucy teased.

"Okay, okay. But still, you and I better get some rest. We have a lot of work to do. What time is the interrogation?" Nicole asked.

"I believe that Rachel said around 11:30 So we have plenty of time to piece all the clues together and get him to admit that he really did do it, and how he committed the crime," Lucy said.

"Okay. Should we meet up somewhere? So we can, you know, discuss strategies to help us get past square one?" Nicole asked.

"I think we're way past square one at this point, Nicole. More like, square 9," Lucy laughed over the phone.

"But we definitely need to plan something out. Should we meet up somewhere? Preferably, the hall where the trial is going to be held," Nicole asked.

"Sounds like a plan! I should probably go to sleep now. I want to try and wake up early," Lucy said,

"Bye!" Nicole said.

"Bye! Lucy replied.

Cracking this case might be a bit harder than I thought. Mr. Walker was my teacher after all, and he usually kept to himself and was pretty discrete. I guess I'll have to find out a major character flaw by the interrogation tomorrow. Nicole thought to herself as she trudged up the steps of her colonial.

"Nicole Lee! What were you doing out so late out at night?" Nicole's father, Haneul Lee yelled.

"I'm sorry dad, the dance was interrupted by the police, and it was a little longer than expected. At least I'm not at the dance now," Nicole said.

"Myung! Did you approve of your daughter going to this dance?" Haneul asked.

"She said that she needed to do something, so she went there. I knew it would be okay, but I didn't think the police would show up!" Myung replied.
